Fix For Clan Er Ppc's, When?

Does anyone know or has PGI "tweeted" (since they rather tweet info than their own forums) if they have accepted that there is a problem with CLan PPC's and Hit reg? Just got out of a match where a Dire Wolf was being the mobile artillery platform he is suppose to be and I put 4 PPC's 2 and 2 into his CT and NO DAMAGE registered. His CT was already Red and 1 PPC probably would have killed him. Now I know I am not the only one that has seen this. Even the DW player could not believe he lived (He then Dakkaed me to death)

Does this problem affecte any other weapon systems or just the Clan ER PPC?

Came in expecting a "CLANS OP PRANA PLZ NERF" thread.

Received a hitreg issues query.

Surprise level: mild to moderate
Surprise type: pleasant.
Thread Verdict: Good.

Carry on, my man. Also let me know if someone actually finds an answer. I've had a few weird things happen with PPCs myself, though for the most part they seem to work fine on my end. Very strange.

Most of the time my CERPPC issues are due to the fact that I'm a bad pilot who should feel bad. However, there have been some situations when it clearly should have done something, but didn't. I'm talking about something like shooting an almost dead mech in the CT (they had exposed orange internals, on a Puma), when they're legged and moving directly towards you.

It probably has something to due with how the current "arc" effect is coded, because normal projectile weapons don't usually derp like this.

I refrained from using my warhawk for now because of this problem. It feels like 1 out of 2 ppc shots dont register. Interestingly, when you go to the Training Grounds and try it there, there doesn't seem to be a problem.

I think that's cos the training grounds are purely client side.

Something fishy about clan ERPPC's and the only difference is the damage arcing.

They should just make the Clan ER PPC a 12dmg PP weapon with 13 heat and increase the recycle time by a half a second and be done with it.

BUt yeah, the CERPPC has hit reg issues. Take it into the Training Grounds and notice how long it takes to kill a single mech, despite looking at numbers in the mechlab and the damage of the CPPC and then counting the shots you would think you need.

And even once in game, you will target something, start firing and notice you hit it, but the reticule wont turn red as if you hit it and even sometimes it does glow red, the damage model wont change.

So not only are PPC bigger and hotter then Lasers, they hit reg horribly. 2 LL is better then 1 C ERPPC....atleast 2 CLL you can fire time and again, only thing then is you need to be accurate.

thats where you can notice it more obviously cuz the targets are not moving and there is no pressure.

Yeah, I have noticed this on numerous occasions. Was in a match with my warhawk, shot enemy MadKitty 3x 2 ERPPC into his armor less CT at 100m, in the open, and only the splash damage registered. I've also noticed some chassis have a larger issue than others. Timberwolfs seem to have damage registry issues in general. Had an enemy Direwolf Fire 2X gauss and 2x ERPPC from across Terra Therma crater. I was about 60 meters directly behind a Timberwolf. I watched the round animation hit his CT then do damage to mine..... leaving me all but cored, and him scratched. Been playing on my Timberwolf, was gunning down a Banshee and winning, until he fired 3 PPC's into my front CT, which passed thru and hit my rear CT, and killed me instantly. Have had the same issue repeatedly. The Nova seems to have higher than normal registry issues too.

To sum it all up, hell yes they're are hit reg issues with clan mechs. Something tells me that they didn't send much time hitbox tuning again.

or worse..I have repeatedly shot mechs in the rear torso, only to have no damage register to the rear and only the splash damage resister to the front CT...doesn't seem to happen when both mechs are stationary, but if either is moving the hit reg is fouled up

and don't bother shooting CERPPC's at a spider at less that 100m....it won't register at all even if you do hit it

I have been on both sides of this happening, where I would shoot at the front and hit the back and on the flipside be shot at from the front and have my rear armor hit.

I dunno. Most of my hits registered when I've done this. I can't tell where I hit since I don't often have them on target, but I do see their ECM turn off.

It's actually hitreg issues with PPC's in general, not just clan PPC's, it's been an issue for at least a year if not longer. Tie in HSR into the mess and lag in general to boot.

it's hit reg-detection fullstop. no better than beta regardless of what ever HSR they do...



totally worth a gold mech or 3

Once you accept that the hit registration issues are a "feature" you will be just fine. At this point I dought that PGI is capable, or willing to fix the issue. That being said I love slaughtering corrupt house Lord minions in my Warhawk

Can repeat pretty easily...if you shoot the ppc with another weapon or shortly after it won't count (sometimes)

I have even paced my shots and it still goes full on pug mode..

Just straight up, C ER PPC needs to be made a PP weapon or 12 or 13dmg with maybe 13 heat, or they really need to look into the arcing mechanics and why they function so poorly..

I'm thinking hit registration issues are not limited to Clan PPCs. I've had issues with lasers also. Had a game last night where I put 6 ER large laser shots at short range into the CT of a Stormcrow. All that managed to do was turn his armor from yellow to orange...
You would think 54 pts of damage into the CT of any medium would pretty much strip the armor. Not this time!

not seeing the problem? You jump, hit him with your lasers, and he dies

anyway clan erppcs don't seem any worse than any other pinpoint weapon from a hitreg standpoint, to me. Occasionally shots miss that seem like they should be hits, but any game that uses server side hitreg is gonna have a little bit of that

He actually killed the Catapult behind the Raven, tis pretty funny, I'll have to favorite that. It's what you get with inferior tech though, a Davion Mech would have killed the Raven, Catapult, and Atlas, all while repairing your legs!

My most common issue with clan ER PPCs is that I'll miss. And then deal damage anyways.

It's much rarer for me to visually hit, but not deal any damage.

I mean I'll happily take the magical homing projectiles that ignore the laws of physics to leave their photons behind and curve into my intended target, but yeah, something's off with them.

I also have noticed clan ERPPC issues at times.

It usually occurs on my Warhawk, when i have 4 x C-ERPPC on chainfire, sometimes a PPC shot goes right through them and no hit registers. Exact same point of aim as previous shot which will be a direct CT hit.

The crosshair doesn't turn red or anything, it just doesn't hit them or register in any way, and looks like the shot actually passes right through them....
