The thread for chat about this majestic animal.

Remember Franklin Osis,

Father of the Clan.

Three strengths he gave us:

The Jaguar's spring that brings the enemy down,

The Jaguar's claws that rend the enemy's heart,

The Jaguar's taste of the enemy's hot blood.

- The Remembrance, Passage 104, Verse 18, Lines 5-10

As the insect feeds the bird,

As the bird feeds the wolf,

As the wolf feeds the smoke jaguar.

- The Remembrance, Passage 121, Verse 43, Lines 20-22

As our father told us

And his father before him,

Ours is the redemption of the Universe;

Ours is the paradise of Terra;

Ours is the war of liberation.

- The Remembrance, Passage 204, Verse 6, Lines 5-9

Can't wait to join your ranks when MWO launches.

So, how do you guys handle the Trial of Position? Is it just a 1 on 1? Or do you guys do 1 vs however many one at a time?

A Trial of Position typically pits the cadet against a 'Mech of lighter weight, followed by one of equal weight, and then against one of greater weight. In some cases, two or more cadets test at the same time, either following the above for each, with the addition of the possible free-for-all by breaking Zellbrigen, or by pitting them against each-other. In the former case, getting more than 3 "kills" in your Trial of Position nets you great honour and a high rank, will be hard to pull off, though.

As a unit, we personally do things somewhat differently from the canon ToP.

Our trial process for getting into the unit first of all consists of a Trial of Entry, in which a player is asked on a weight class of asset he would like to use, and a warrior from the clan steps forward in an asset of equal weight classification to fight him. These players do not declare their choice of asset to each other, and fight within our trial map (in MWLL). Once this fight is done, the applicant has another two fights that are done in the same format, just not using the same weight class again. The applicant has to win one of these fights out of the three to gain entry as a cadet.

2 weeks after gaining entry, a cadet can take a Trial of Position, which is the same format as the ToE, its just that the cadet has to win 2 out of 3 fights. We pride ourselves on our 1v1 abilities, and tend to find that most players will struggle to pass their ToP, and sometimes their ToE, on their first, second, or even third go.

Is a Nova Cat design and does not appear on the CSJ RAT in Era Report: 3052.

Imo, canon beats what you suggest.

We do more with our ranks than just have them as a badge of honour in our clan, and as such we need structure to the unit. The standard trial set up of fighting one lighter, one same, and one higher weight asset tends to result in easy access to the unit for recruits, and a possibility of rank being earned without proof of ability.

By allowing the trialists 3 fights in their favourite assets within 3 weight categories, we get to see more of the cadets personal preferences and their skill within different weight brackets. This is much more useful to me as a commander than watching assault v heavy fights over an over again, which tends to display a much more limited range of skills, as well as a lack of real insight into personal preference.

Because its a two stage process with us, becoming a full member takes time, and as such both the cadet, and the unit members, get to figure out whether or not they like the company of the unit/ the recruit, and they get to spend time practising with us to achieve something few succeed at on their first attempt.

There is no clan yet.
So until at least the closed beta, canon it is.
If the beta indicates that it cannot be done as per canon, then we'll see to your suggestion.

In this particular case he is referring to how things are done in MWLL presently, and I've heard of no plans to change the format for MW:O (unless it must be done the canon way, which we used to do a long time ago before adopting the current format).

This is how we, as a unit, do things, and thats all there is to it. If we end up being the main represented group of CSJ in MWO when the clans are released, we will still continue to trial in this manner.

To join us, we expect people to perform, and this trial methods proves that. If other people want to join their own CSJ units, such as Alpha or Delta Galaxy, then so be it, but in Beta Galaxy this is how we do things.

Nah, i haven't for forgot the Ebon Jaguar, but i don't want o tell all alone.
Dire Wolf and Warhawk were just examples, but you're right. The Ebon Jaguar is a Smoke Jaguar developement and the figurehead of the clan.

Another example: The famous Mad Dog also was designed by Clan Smoke Jaguar.

Noone. I was merely attempting to alleviate your confusion, since you seemed to think his description of how the Trial process is done in another game, was a suggestion for this game.
