Uhm ok, so I just found out PGI is asking for community feedback on creating hero mechs.

That's awesome! Love it! Thank you! Where is the thread?
Where is the poll?
I don't see it....

Oh wait, that's because it's on another website?

PGI, seriously, this is just a confusing way to get your community involved in feedback. Start using YOUR stuff instead of every freaking way possible to avoid using the forums to disperse information and obtain feedback....
smh

and you wonder why your community complains about being able to communicate with you...?

Because NGNG are basically lapdogs and in bed with Piggy. There isn't really a polite way for me to put it.

I don't blame them. They play nice with PGI, and PGI plays nice with them. This gets them Neat Shinies, which in turn gets us Neat Shinies. *shrugs* All the power to them.

Part of the problem is that they sometimes mess up those Neat Shinies, like certain recent hero mechs...

It sadly seems to be the PGI way. Rather than fix things, cut their losses and move on to somewhere less heated instead (like reddit situation) ;)

How did they mess up the IV-4?

Edit: I ask, because I know nothing about what went down with that - I've largely ignored the IV-4 completely

  • Relatively low engine cap on a mech that's basically a medium that ate too many doughnuts (just 5 tons bigger than a Shadow Hawk)
  • CT-only energy hardpoints (can't do anything but MLas basically, or maybe a single [ER]LL)

I do not mind they communicate through various means but it would be a plus to see that information also posted here as well in case people do not surf reddit or whatever else.

NGNG guys have been recently contracted by PGI I believe.

Amen to this topic!

Why they would not want community interaction I dont know...

Just be strict about it, put it in the comstar focus group section and say on the first post "Builds only! no bickering or discussion keep to a strict build format" and just remove the posts that don't, that way they get their feedback on build ideas without the usual downhill slide our forums usually have.

I have nothing against them communicating in as many areas as they can. However, that doesn't mean exclude your primary means of communication with your players. It's ridiculous that this wasn't just common info available EASILY to the forums...

ESPECIALLY when you're asking for community feedback!

If this was cars it would be like General Motors, never using their own web sites but using Vauxhall Saab and Opel ones instead.

Hey just because you dont play the game or understand what is going on doesnt mean you cant make changes to fix it. That is why we have nice things like Ghost Heat, 3PV, Consumables and Cockpit Glass.

I agree. Promoting it on other outlets its great, however, it needs to be hosted and promoted on the official website. Unless this is a cross promotion with a company who is funding the venture , and even then , it really needs to be referenced on the official website.

Cheers.

Last time I checked, this forum tends to get hostile over pretty much anything PGI does or asks help for. Frankly I can't blame them. Morale in a developer team is more important than many of the players here realize.

Because when they spout BS on sites or through channels other than their "official" site, they can [try to] disavow it later.

a/k/a "plausible deniability"

That's got to be close to the absolute lowest of the lowest form of medicine show antics. It's just like phony medicine shows. Same pitch, different cover.

The moral of the story is: when you sell a bill of goods, you darn sure better deliver.

It's happening ;)

Had a discussion similar to this on Twitter earlier today

The community, trolls, players, etc. being "hostile" is not an excuse
They have the way and means to stop that. This is their forum. They dictate what is acceptable behavior here.
They are not excused from acting in a professional manner simply because "the customer was mean to me". I deal with people who make the idiocy and animosity on here look like a 4 year old girl's tea party. Guess what? I don't act unprofessionally no matter how bad they get.
No what would happen if I did? I'd be looking for a new job.
I also don't exclude the main form of communication used by my company when trying to communicate and obtain feedback from them. I don't post important announcements and information on 3rd party websites that the majority of my customers do not frequent without also making sure it's available on the official website just because "some customers might get snotty"

That's not an excuse.

Have to agree with pretty much everything, there is some people who just want to provide opinions and ideas for PGI without shouting DO THIS NAO!! PGI...

But it's just ******** have to be part of like 3 different forums just to be at day with Mw:O updates and community issues.

This

Nothing wrong with using as many outlets as possible but that's not an excuse for making it a complicated process just for players to obtain important information and/or provide feedback in a central location
