The legging wars will begin.

ETA: Command Console will be underwhelming and most won't bother for the weight it adds. Targeting Computers will be decent by comparison.

I think that for fight Clans we need Victor and Highlander jump snipers, so dont be too happy if they nerfed these mechs.

Also keep in mind that fall damage affects all mechs above all not jump jets equipped.

I sense lots of crying non-Jumpjet mechs. They have no way to mitigate the fall damage of dropping down a cliff.

The poptart population will reduce slightly as the more underhive of the meta users find themselves breaking their legs.

I predict seeing a couple, maybe 3 TCs.

Oh.. the Dire wolf CT change will lead to them being even more of a wrecking ball.

That's not saying much. Maybe it will upgrade them from a 1 pound ball to a 2 pound ball. Either way, not much wrecking going on.

We may even see a small minority trying to catch their teammates as they fall, since we know you can ride on other mechs.

There was another thread about this recently so I will not sidetrack this one, but it was pretty split on those Clan pilots who said they do well in them as is and those calling for a change.

People do well in a lot of things that are ridiculously easy to kill. We'll have to see if the CT adjustment makes it any more difficult to deal with.

And a another patch cycle will be wasted trying to reinvent the wheel instead of developing an actually good balancing mechanic Such as several that have been proposed and discussed in depth here on the forums, Again.

We're into double digits with those.

- I predict players that have been away coming back for a bit then leaving again after they see the patch has no meaningful content. IE new maps or gameplay modes.
- I predict the legging wars to start...lol
- I predict a slight reduction in pop tarts, the ranged sniping and lrm fest games will continue as usual. No brawling will return.
- I predict frustrations from the community in general as things that are broken will not be addressed.
- I predict long frustrating wait times for matches.

Just a few,

Regards

Pity I don't have an Unlike button, it's Karl Berg AFAIK that's been writing the MM that'll be coming out on July 2nd. And that guy rocks.

Currently it's barely a bowling ball, more like a croquet ball at best. I'm hoping this patch actually gives them competitive viability.

If the new fall damage makes it, then it will effect everyone but jump snipers.

As much as I hate to be outright negative, the incoming fall damage changes look to do exactly what you've described.

I predict IS autocannons will become burst fire.
the Atlas-D-DC loses its ECM since command console is a thing now.
poptarting continues to grow in popularity, despite leg damage due to the benefits of Targeting computer and Hide My Ass module
Matchmaker continues to not work, but the "release valves" work perfectly, and we are back to 2 premade groups and 8 assaults per team per match, but at least it didn't take a hotfix to get there.
Lasers receive a damage reduction due to HSR fix, despite being a second class weapon.

I predict the jumpjet fix of adding heat will not go through. I imagine PGI will quote something along the lines of "it'd only exacerbate the problem of the single jumpjet greatest thrust issue."
(Russ mentioned it, they want to fix [and with damn good reason] the one JJ = lots of thrust issue. Problem is a HUGE amount of that is the mech has a jumping animation before the thrust which gets the mech to take off.)

-----------

Now, on a personal issue...
If jumpjets had a delay to 'charge up' when you pressed the button, followed by a powerful launch burning half your fuel, and the rest is for cushioning your landing or keeping you in the air longer...
Said delay would fix the "tap space to be invincible" issue with HSR, giving the game time to prepare it for calculations.
It'd fix the poptart issue (you're going up and forward and it's a leap not a stationary hover).
It'd make the jumpjets useful for mobility.
A single jumpjet would give you a miniscule hop, good for climbing sudden humps or the occasional pebble.
Several might be good enough to leap onto a typical building.
Lots plus leaping from one building to the next might get you on top of tall buildings.

Just a thought.

*shrug* I dunno, man, jumping should have ALWAYS caused heat. It did in all the tabletop based games. It may not stop the poptarting, but it'll definitely effect their rate of fire.

It began a while ago. It's the only way I can keep the 175-200k average payout per match. Components destroyed and CECM bonuses is the way to go.

True... I"ve seen some of Karl's posts... he is probably the most underrated employee at PGI... He has to work a miracle everyday with the garbage Paul basically forces him(Karl) sub standard ideas and tools and its up to Karl to actually implement them.

But with Canada Day Holiday coming out and PGI's track record of Fail Matchmaker.... my Meme stands.

I don't think you really have any idea what goes on in that studio, actually.
