I always said id give it another try when they buffed SRMs. I heard they are like... 2.15 damage now.
I guess that counts??
What is scaring me is that on the shiny 'new' general discussion forum here, everyone is talking about the meta like i HAVENT BEEN GONE FOR A YEAR
I gave the game a YEAR break, because the pinpoint damage PPC\Gauss PPC\AC5 meta got so old.
I have 34+ mechs, and the only ones I used the last few months of playing were JJ equipped PPC or AC snipers.
Now people are mentioning 2cerppc JJ timerwolves and 2gauss2ppc Dire Wolves....
Once again....
IT'S BEEN A YEAR!??!?!?!
Is it still pinpoint-damage-sniper, hull-down-behind-ridge, peak-n-poke-warrior
-online?
This update is slow so Im debating if I should uninstall or not

I gotta say the PPFLD really is making this game absolutely no fun, paired with the puggies and the 2-12 wipes...plus the horrid performance from this game.

Also, why do people uninstall? Are you that hardup for harddrive space or do you like enjoy making a statement?

Now, PPC/AC and PPC/Gauss are still to be found around, yes... but my advice is to go play for a bit and see for yourself. Clans spiced up the game a lot.

I have a small solid state drive for games, so space is actually precious, it isnt a " '**** you pgi!!" statement.
I'll certainly give the game a try here, but I am (STILL!) always longing for the closed beta golden days of collisions and medium laser brawling. Is that bad?

Yes there is still meta jump sniping but a patch coming tomorrow will address a few issues regarding poptarts such as MUCh more falling damamge on heavies and assults, they have also announced JJ heat, and less power from 1 JJ in upcoming patches.
The game is alot more diverse than it was a ear ago I think you will have fun.

Same as ever, except nowadays, there's even less brawls, since the Clan mechs out-do you in that easily (assuming a decent pilot).
The only 'beacon of hope' for proper brawling are events like these: http://mwomercs.com/...k-mech-mondays/
You should really try one of them out at least once.

It is what it always was - people flock to the forums and complain to absolve themselves of responsibility for a loss. Historically, and at present (in real life) fighting at range is preferred to fighting in close quarters. There's a reason for that - more reward, less risk. Thats why rifle > pistol, rocket > grenade. Its the same thing in MWO. They can't keep whackin' away at game mechanics to force short-range to be more viable - the short range fighter needs to figure out how to close the range gap, and do it.

Because maybe with enough topics spamming their boards, PGI might realize that.."oh hey, maybe our players really are serious about changing this meta thing"
Cuz dont most games make changes on forums based on popularity of the topic? I know Planetside 2 has a spot that says thats how they do it.

SRM6s and PPCs still have the same cooldown.
PGI's response will likely be something along the lines of:

You made me login just to like your post. Love Fallout references.
From what i've seen the gauss/ppc/AC builds aren't as widely used as they were before and the JumpJet change comes in tomorrow so poptarting will become less of the go to thing. Personally everytime i'm with my premade and we see one of those ******** jump sniper builds we'll go kamikazi on them to shut them down, doesn't matter if we die as long as the poptart dies first. Just last night i ran into a group of 6 mechs just to blow the poptart away. I died immediately after but for some reason i still felt like i won the match.
*Edit* lol Pop*tard is a censored word?

Maybe they should slow PPCs down to Mechwarrior 2 speeds. PPFLD will require very good aim and good target prediction!

3 damage is the proper damage for SRMs when you remove their guidance.
Alternatives include making their travel speed faster, since that would also help a fair bit.

SRMs are exactly fine how they are; with Buckton patch they are very scary. I would, however, like them to be real SRMs with limited tracking/homing capability.
Agree with increased PPC cooldown. It won't change meta, though. Pinpoint damage is only prevalent because it is so easy to "hit and fade". This is a legitimate tactic but is only supposed to be reliable on light/medium mechs. Heavy/assault mechs require Jump Jets to do it effectively. Change JJs, remove the heavy/assault PPC/AC meta.
