This is a recreational activity that some people pay to engage in and enjoy. And that others get to play for free due to the first group.

PGI has to satisfy the biggest group of paying customers. Everyone on the forum thinks they know what that looks like (with most posters apparently assuming the biggest paying group looks like them).

Only PGI has that data.

FYI, Bryan said in a different thread the MM tries to match group sizes as one of the priorities, and only 10% of matches are 12 vs multi-group matches. That means 1 out of every 10 matches your 2-4 pilot group is in a 4+x+x+x vs 12 scenario.

Other than splitting 12 pilot groups into their own queue, what you propose is more or less how the current MM works. Implementing a 12 pilot only queue is just going to mean the 12 pilot groups will shift to 10s, and the 12 queue will become a ghost town.
