Yep, I have seen plenty of 12 mans just intentionally spamming fun builds such as Atlas-Ks or AC20 Ravens.

The problem is, since teamwork is what brings victory, the 12 man teams mostly stomp the other side anyway, regardless of build.

Yep. I think personally, once the initial furor dies down about the matchmaker, it will simply improve everyone's game. New players can play in PUG matches until they feel like becoming part of more organised play (if ever its not essential). Small groups will sharpen up on their skills and drills, other than just running meta jumpsnipes. 12 mans will get good matches, more often, against a wide variety of players. They will probably win more than they lose, but all is as it should be.

It can never be perfect, but its in a much better place right now than ever. Things are on the up, and when CW eventually arrives everything should be in place to make it as awesome as it should be.

ingame voice over IP or a lobby where you can group up and arrange teamspeak before playing.
even then there will be some for whome TS is too complicated.

For all the QQ about smaller mixed groups can't beat 10-12 mans all on coms, I offer this in rebuttal, never mind that the clan wolf players were mouthy at the start of the game, only to shut right the hell up after they got rolled by a couple 3 mans and some pugs that focused fire.

Ha ha, this is my clan. While i don't agree with 'mouthing off' before a match, we are usually respectful. In fairness, there are some real good pilots in that group of ours, and there are some bondsmen. They probably got cocky.

The reason i like what you posted is because its what i have also been saying all along. 12 mans are not invincible. The cheese meta ones are tough to beat, but then the chesse meta premades were tough to beat in the old matchmaker.

I think as time goes on small groups will adapt and not only become better players and have more fun overall for the increased competition, but also create some really good matches for 12 mans. Instead of seeing 12 mans as a boogeyman, why don't people try and rise to the challenge?

You might very well be right about that. It's only a couple of days since the patch and odds are fairly good that most of the controls of the MM are pretty loose. Maybe PGI will tighten them up soon.

That being said, however, I'm here to tell you that there's no perceptible difference between the old broken matchmaker annd the new broken matchmaker. There is no separation by skill or experience in the public queue. You roll your dice and take your chances.
