Hi All,

Just downloaded the client and installed - now I need to get the patch.

But it's taking forever to download - i can normally pull ~2GB per hour.

I've left the patch to download for the past 2 hours and only got 360MB through.

Is there a way to download the patch directly and install manually?

Cheers.

You need to download MWO using the patcher. The first "patch" is the entire game, so it can take a while. Later ones will be much smaller. It should not be that slow, but there have been routing/throttling issues in the past. If it slows down further, you may want to contact support.

Early morning hours tend to have a slow download speed. It's currently 9:06 AM here. Most of the players currently in the game are from Asia and Europe at this hour with some Americans and Canadians. Their high pings on the game servers are also pulling bandwidth away from the download servers.

On the off chance that it's just a bad connection, you can try canceling the download by closing the patcher and then restarting it. I've found this to work on some other game patchers when the connection is awful.

There isn't another way floating around as typically the patcher is pretty fast once the Asians go to bed.

Keep in mind the servers are in Canada.

Welcome to the game btw. Since you're here however, why not read up a little? It'll give you a little something to do.

This little guide of mine covers starting/patching/running the game and a quick get started.

And this is a list of community created guides on just about any topic. Particularly the Basics, Icon meanings, and making money should be of good interest.

lashOO,

I cannot over recommend Koniving's links. The in-game tutorials are sorely lacking, so do yourself a HUGE favor and do some reading.

This will help you immensely with getting started in a good way.

Have fun!

The only way to get the game quicker is to have a friend that already has the game installed, you can then just copy the folder(4.7GB) to a usb-stick and then copy it on to ur comp.
Doing It this way should only take about 5-10min.
If you do, do it this way short cut the "MechWarriorOnline.exe" to ur desktop (yes the file name is all one word & make sure its a shortcut and not copied)

Edit:
You could play it from the stick like this but I would no recommend it, but If you would like to try it like this (for science ^_^ lol ) make sure your stick is usb3 and that its in a usb3 port for best results, usb2.0 is much slower then 3.
