HELP!

I typed the following into Notepad:

cl_fov = 90
gp_option_ShowCockpitGlass = 0
r_HDRGrainAmount = 0.0

I then saved it as user.cfg and dropped it into my MWO folder.

Nothing happens....I tried to drop it into 'system' but that wasn't allowed. What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks in advance!

did you save it as unicode?

If on Vista / 7 / 8, choose 'run as admin' to start it going. (Should only need to do it once for it to 'update' the 'power user layer')

90 is about the limit and some mechs might be a bit off graphically with it - 86 is reccomended.

Mine is:
cl_fov = 86
gp_option_ShowCockpitGlass = 0
r_DepthOfField = 0
r_HDRGrainAmount = 0.0
sys_MaxFPS = 45
r_ssao = 0
r_ssdo = 0
e_TerrainAo = 0
sys_PakPriority = 0
sys_PakPriority 0
sys_PakValidateFileHash = 0
So's there's no reason yours shouldn't work otherwise.

Simply copy, I think its the system file....that should be the proper .config file.

Probably, you made a new text file and named it user.cfg, but its still saving it as a .txt file. I had this issue and it was solved when I realized the issue and simply copied an actual .config file in the MWO folder and then delete whats in it, rename it to User, copy in the text you want and save that way.

Whats all that extra stuff in your config file?

sys_pakpriority and all that jazz, is it to improve FPS?

open a new window, press alt
>tools
>folder options
>view
untick "hide extensions for known file types"
press ok

you can now see what file types are what AND rename them to be the correct formats /names as you see fit

Yeah.
My PC isn't low spec, but MWO just screws with it, being as wonderfully (un)optimised as it is.

So the first 4 are graphical changes (Field of View, Glass Dirt, Fuzzy edge of view, film grain), the rest are preformance enhancers.
I'm not even sure what all of them do, but they seem to help, so I leave them there.

I did as you instructed, oddly my file was reading user.cfg.cfg lol!

It works now yay!

Thanks again :)
