A great way to discourage groups of 2-6 is by smashing them together with other small groups and then dropping them against an organized 12 man. There is only so many crushing defeats one can go through before you give up. Pretty crappy when you to win a game you have to leave a group of friends and drop solo.

Why do you want to discourage the biggest spenders from playing the game?

I drop solo and my receipts add up to $455.57 SO how am I not a big spender? I have the EXACT same complaint as the original poster. How does dropping in a big group make you a big spender exactly?

Do you expect solo players to be the only ones that go through this? I always play solo. I don't really mind getting rolled by a group unless they're complete jerks about it.

The MM update should make things far better for solo drops, since there'll be a better chance of no groups at all, and if either team has a group, both will.

Not sure how much I pity those 5-8 groups.

You see, before this patch there were mass complaints about people wanting larger group sizes. Now it is here, and those people who formerly complained are split into two categories:

1) Try-hards who can now create large groups of their elite kin and demolish all who stand in their way (I watched an HoL stream go 50+ wins to 0 losses)
2) Regular players wanting to group with 5-7 friends hoping to stomp PUGs or be paired against other 5-7 teams. Instead, they are paired against the 12-man firing lines.

While some are reaping the benefits of larger group sizes, others are now facing the true horrors of matchmaker.

The real losers will be the smaller 2-4 man groups... who may now be paired against the 12 mans. On a positive note, these same 2-4 man groups could also end up in the PUG queue. Hopefully MM can be designed to favour the PUG queue more than the group queue if a specific 2-4 man group is having difficulty landing a decent match.

The biggest way to discourage solo players is by smashing them together with premade 4 mans on communications. There are only so many crushing defeats a solo player can take before giving up.

Poor OP. Can't pull his own weight in group drops, just wants
To go against 8 guys who aren't in a group.

It's not HOW much you've spent, it's how regularly you've pumped cash into PGI's coffers that matter.

I've spent my fair share as well, but I'm just a lowly solo dropper....I'm not the target audience for PGI. They prefer the guys that drop the same amount of money on the same day every month. Much easier for their accounting department to budget things when they know how much and when they're going to get money.

The biggest way to discourage groups is what pgi did over a year ago when they instituted the 4 man cap.

Letting people play in larger groups is better for groups overall, even if there are a few select groups who only like to play against groups smaller than themselves.

Think about what you just said OP

You actually just suggested that PGI discourage players from playing the game. smh

How about you drop in the solo queue if you don't like playing against groups? There's an idea...

I also love it how people say/think "It's a 12-man on the other side for sure because they rolled us" without any evidence that it is indeed the case.

How often do you actually ask the other team what their group sizes are, again?

Anyway... considering how low the odds of landing against a 12-man is, the complaint is largely baseless. Odds are it's a mix of groups on the other side, too.

I've read some dumb post here, but this is the dumbest.

I like the new MM as it finally gives me and my friends a chance to finally form a big group and play together and try out to see whether we can work together as a team and try different tactics, builds, and different mechs that we bring to the battlefield.

We can now form groups of 6-10 - and later on maybe even 12.

Basic message is this:

1. Teamwork is OP - way more op than any xxxx Meta
2. Communication
3. Understanding and configuring your team's mech composition and loadouts
4. Understanding each other's playstyle and assigning roles to suit
5. Focus Fire
6. Lock down potentially dangerous opponents first
7. Understanding the map, the flow of battle and adapting

We've had GREAT fun with the latest matchmaker and we're not even comp units - just a bunch of people who like Mechwarrior, THIS is how MW is and supposed to be!

We're not HoL, SJR etc but I guarantee you - put any or even better, all the above when you form up as a group and MW will be far more enjoyable to you as well as your teammates and you will see this game is not about solo Rambo, it is all about teamwork.

Oh and by the way isn't it allways 12 vs. 12?
Actually the ratio is 4 decent players + 8 dumtards vs. 2 decent players + 10 dumtards lately.
Which perhaps expalins the plethera of rollstomps I've seen of late.

it's no different than when solo players used to use the whole "it's a premade, that's why we lost" argument. It wasn't valid then and it's not valid now.

Not to mention, if you can't handle the higher levels of competition, teamwork, and strategy used by groups there's a solo queue and private matches. I'd rather see groups never have to play in the solo queue again just so I never ever have to hear about how premades are the reason they're losing. Let them find a new boogeyman to blame their losses on

Isn't there some sort of issue with private matches where more than one person needs premium time or you need full teams or something like that?

Yes. In order to do anything with the private lobbies both sides need to have premium. Without it you can change time limits, maps, and you have to run full 12-man teams.
