Hi,

has anybody numbers on the (theoretical) sell value of clan mechs? I would like to predict the cost, because if it would be sarna conform costs (e.g. around 24 million CBills for a single timerwolf variant), then grinding clan mechs would be utterly pointless for anyone doing something else but playing MWO.

From what I can tell clan mechs will be quite expensive, but not as bad as BT values: weapon prices for clan and IS are the same, as are special equipment like bap, ecm and DHS.

The biggest price hikes come in the form of built in upgrades, XL engines you cant sell and the price of omnipods added in (though thats fairly minor). From what I can guestimate you wont need to quit your day job to own a clan mech for cbills, but considering youll need to buy all new sets of weapons it WILL add up to a larger grind overall.

Can you lookup in game (your inventory) what the clan mechs would sell for (if you hypothetically would sell one)?

This should be a quite certain telling of their actual CBill cost.

Dire wolf 5,4 M
Summoner 4,6 M
Nova 3 M
Kit Fox 1,7 M

And Atlas 2,9 M

So clan mechs cost a lot.

I just did some quick math if I sold an atlas with the inner sphere xl340 I have together they would be worth about 6M or just a little under, so the clan mechs arnt that far off the mark at least the assaults.

Im willing to wager a very rough estimation of clan mechs costing 2.5x of their vendor value (so a warhawk would cost about 15,000,000 cbills, plus weapons which for a hawk prime would be uh about 2.5M more so about 17,500,000 cbills)

A nasty hill to climb but not a insurmountable one.

(Though we will have a better idea when Kit Fox hits the market soon)

If we look at the sell cost of an upgraded victor with an XL engine, and sell it's complete components, you're looking at a sell cost of about 7 and a half million c-bills (the engine making up a large portion of this) and a purchase price in the range of 14-126 million depending on kit.

My Clan mechs are no longer Stock, but I can offer up roughly their C-bill resale value, including all equipment and omnipods, which should be about half of the purchase price, give or take specific equipment:
  • Kit Fox - 5 million
  • Nova - 4.4 million
  • Summoner - 6.6 million
  • Dire Wolf - 8.7 million
When we double these prices, from approximately 9 million for a Nova to almost 18 million for a Dire Wolf, they're fairly pricy, especially compared to a stock IS mech. A highly customized Atlas DDC, however, checks in at just shy of 15 million.

Clan mechs will be costly but not that different than the complete cost of buying and upgrading an IS mech.

Clan weapons, items, and omnipods are also pretty expensive, but at last you can reuse them if you're on a budget.

keep in mind that the main cost of IS mechs are usually engine, ferrofibrous upgrade/downgrade, endosteel upgrade, double heatsinks..

If you buy an IS mech, the basic cost is far lower than the clan mech, but the clan mechs come with these basics hardwired and included.

So, where the IS has the advantage to give you a mech and upgrade it while playing, the clan mechs will make you pay the whole lot in one go.

the prices will be higher (but, if you stick XL engines in every IS mech, you'll see that they are rather costly too)
but it's just rather logical.

Just to give some inner sphere numbers from my mechlab:

My Victor 9S with endosteel and double heat sink upgrade sells for 1,923,781 CBills. The 375XL engine I run sells for 3,062,500 CBills.

Hence the Battlemech sells for roughly a quarter of its original price plus/minus some amount for the standard engine it ships with and the cheaper structure/heat sinks.

SARNA
24 Mio for a Timerwolf
30 Mio for a Direwolf
26 Mio for a Warhawk
22 Mio for a Summoner etc

MWO maybe?
16-18 Mio for a Timerwolf
20-22 Mio for a Direwolf
18-20 Mio for a Warhawk
14-16 Mio for a Summoner etc

That's definitly more than a casual gamer can grind (even considering you may own a premium mech already for the grind).

Based on sale prices of Mechs + default Gear *2.

Estimated Clan Mech C-Bill Prices
--------------------------
Light (CLAN)
Kitfox (Uller) (30) - 5-7M C-Bills (2-2.8K MC)
Adder (Puma) (35) - 6-8M C-Bills (2.4-3.2K MC)
--------------------------
Medium (CLAN)
Nova (Black Hawk) (50) - 8-10M C-Bills (3.2-4K MC)
Stormcrow (Ryoken) (55) - 10-12M C-Bills (4-3.8K MC)
--------------------------
Heavy (CLAN)
Summoner (Thor) (70) - 13-15M C-Bills (5.2-6K MC)
Timberwolf (Mad Cat) (75) - 14-16M C-Bills (5.6-6.4K MC)
--------------------------
Assault (CLAN)
Warhawk (Masakari) (85) - 14-16M C-Bills (5.6-6.4K MC)
Direwolf (Daishi) (100) - 16-18M C-Bills (6.4-7.2K MC)
--------------------------

- For additional perspective:
SDR-5D - Kitted out spider with DHS, FF, XL, etc - 9.5M C-Bills.
AS7-D-DC - Kitted out Atlas, just with DHS is 14.5M, if you what ES, FF and an XL on there (which you just wouldn't, I know), AS7-D-DC It's almost 19M C-Bills just without weapons.

I had a rough estimate that the Dire Wolf would be between 14,000,000 to 15,000,000 cbills. This was based on removing the price differences of engines for tonnage.
Example, TT XL 300 for a Jenner is something along the lines of 3 to 4 million. TT XL 300 for an Atlas is in excess of 12 million cbills.
Meanwhile the MWO price is one steady 4,900,000 cbills.

Anyway, it was a lengthy process, what I came up with was between 14 and 15 mil for a Dire Wolf. The Timber Wolf is probably going to be in the 12 to 13 million range.

Looks like you can dumb down the whole math process by using smurfy to emulate a clan mech using a IS mech: due to prices being fairly standardized you can get a good idea what to expect.

(Recreating a Nova B with a Hunchback 4G drives the huncbhack price to a little over 10,000,000, mostly due to the XL)

Well for the extra cost of pod based guns and the engine I guess you can use smurfy. But I didn't want to go into the process of estimating what my favorite build would cost me in excess. I just wanted to make a decision whether I buy the Masakari pack or grind the mechs out of it, that I want. Just looking at our estimates it looks like it's impossible to grind 4-5 mechs+variants. The grind would take me years.

I'm not by my pc, but I thought upgrading a IS to double heat sinks actually does not affect the sales price. I looked at selling two atlas, one double heat sink, one single. Both with the same engine and nothing else. If I remember right the sell price was exactly the same (chassis and equipment) although for one I paid 1.5 million cbills to upgrade to double heat sinks.

Other than that, nice numbers, I think the calculations are close regarding clans. Gj

Yeah - sale price doesn't take into account Endo, Ferro, DHS or Artemis.

Infact, you get a set sale value per weight class.

But it gives us a rough idea at least.

What is also a bit scary is when you consider even the MC cost. 50 to 60 million cbills for a casual player to earn isn't really a practical option unless they have lot of time

I can see the dire wolf being around 7k to 8k which means you'd need the $100 pack of MC to just buy the 3 dire wolfs.

Yeah I bought the Masakari pack yesterday. It is too expensive, but I can afford it and I rate my own fanship for the franchise greater than my grudge about PGI... Basically my reason...

So we're talking a discounted price of 6k MC ($30) to get three kit fox or roughly 20 million cbills when they come out. This is the cheapest mech isn't it? Makes me think the bigger clan mechs are going to be very pricey. :P
