Now that Clan mechs have been introduced to the game, currently the only way to really test mech builds to see how much damage they can do to them is to fight against them in acutal battles. Can you switch out 4 of the IS mechs with 4 clan mechs in trial mode? That way we can at least get an idea of how effective our builds are against them before they shoot back.

they will most likely do this once clan mechs are out for c-bills.
odds are too that it will b one of each weight class or if we get a "clan map" we could see all 8, but like I said most likely after they come out for cbills..

Sigh. I think PGI should have let everyone use the clan mechs during the public test. I also agree that they should have the trials as clan. It would make sense. I did not buy a clan package due to a lack of faith in the value of them. If those of us who have yet to buy them were to get a chance to try them out PGI might get some more sales out of it.

This wouldn't have been fair to the ppl who pre-ordered...

I bought the Nova package before it was released so I would have at least two Clan mechs to play. I had so much fun with them that I upgraded to the Timber Wolf package a couple of weeks after launch. The big part of my decision to upgrade came from trying the Kit Fox and Nova and liking them so much. If others who haven't tried them got to play for a couple of hours like we did in the two public tests, I am very certain that PGI would sell many more packages or a la cartes.
Getting to play the mechs for a couple of hours doesn't devalue the pre order customers. A couple of hours is not enough time to do that (especially on a test server), but it is enough to make a sale. Heck, PGI could even set up an "All Mechs Owned" test, and let players try out all the hero mechs as well. There's a good chance that I would buy another hero mech if I got to try the ones I don't own. It's a win/win for the players and PGI both.

We never heard griping about the free XP and Cbills in the PTS devaluing the players who earned theirs with hard work, so why would letting players drive the mechs for a couple of hours do the same?

I'm not saying give me all the mechs for free. I'm saying If they let people try them then people may buy them. Increase sales while its cash only.

This is a completely speculative point. I counter it with if they try them and find they don't like them PGI will lose more money through people waiting till they are for cbills to buy as they are not the OP'd/easy button mechs they thought they were.

Took them ~7months to add a phoenix mech to the trial and it's only because clan was there and they knew they needed to give some meta to the trialers.
