Wondering if this game will have a tier system like wot.Just going back to what Russ was saying about the founder mechs opening that part of tech trees up . So will we have different tiers of certain sized mechs?
Because what I am seeing with what people are saying about how many slots we start with , seems logical
, say, if you want to drive assaults then you probably just have assaults in your garage ?Unless you buy more slots.

Tier system?

We won't have tiers like in WoT where the lower tiers are useless when you have reached the next tier, instead each mech will have a roll and can be played effectively.

Hoping so but what he said about opening up mech tech trees, Makes me think there must be some kind of tier matching system for random battles. If there is hopefully it wont throw low tiers in against high tiers like wot does.

We don't have tiers like Tier 10, but a Jenner can for example get behind an Atlas and kill it without the Atlas being able to do anything about it because the Jenner can just evade its fire because the Jenner is faster than the Atlas, though I think they said they want to have varied Lances.

There. Are. No. Tiers.
The tech trees are per mech - just like you unlock the module upgrades for each tank in WoT. There is no "mech X leads to mech Y leads to mech Z" tech tree.

Maybe they do something like the old Battlevalue? Tonnage alone and distinction between weight probably isn't enough.
Tier-System would be difficult, because it is just about the equipement.

This is were MWO differs greatly from WOT. In MWO you can choose right from the start what class of Mech you want to jump into: Light (Scout), Medium, Heavy and Assault class. From there you can jump your Mech into tiers, 1 to 4 then comes Elite 1. This is where the Founders Mechs all starts at in the specific Mech Tree. After comes tier 5 to 8, then Elite 2 at end. In between the tiers are available unlocks to Mech variants.

The tiers referenced by devs is unlocking of various skill tree focuses ala. Diablo two, not three,. Thesr benefits enhance attributes of a mech not normally customizable

The devs have stated that you can start with any weight class, any combat role, and be effective. That said, I really have no idea how C-Bill grinding or maintenance/ammo/repairs will be handled, and if it would be "more efficient" to use a medium instead of an assault.
I would hope that they would allow you to be effective with all 'Mechs.

You won't have to worry about plinking off another mech, you use the same weapons it does and use the same armor that it does as well. A larger mech might have more of the stuff that you do, but it's still the same stuff.
