Was testing some vid recording settings and had this PUG stomping round. Play the mech slow and steady and it is vicious. Prime, 2 PPCs, 2 Gauss, MK VII Targeting Comp.

Excuse the throat clearing as I am battling a cold.

Also how do you embed a youtube video? http://youtu.be/9j41oe3jXqs

Yup, you can see me trying to maneuver in that video and it feels like I am backing up a Semi.

The problem is, with Dire Wolves, you are relying on the opposing player making a mistake.

It's a lot like LRMs. Good players are aware of the Wolves, and stay out of their front arc. Good players are aware of LRMs and stay near cover.

I thought the DW was a new device for catching LRMs, rather like a giant walking LRM bucket?

What does that say about the Dire Wolf if you've only now, because of it, got your Ace of Spades achievement??

First off, it must be a proper youtube.com link.
Secondly, it must be added to the post on the first posting, adding it in an edit won't work.
Thirdly, you just add the URL in plain text and the forum software turns it into a media tag and embeds it.

It's a hassle not being able to do it in edits, and I've bugged the admins about it several times.

Yeah, definitely a ground breaking combo.........pretty awesome what you can do with increased range, muzzle velocity and a 100 ton mech against the masses. I'd brag too.

I see your Cheesewolf and raise you a Siegebreaker, my good Sir!

Twin SRM6 is doable, but I wanted an Active Probe to help support pushes. Dat sweet ECM counter. Oh well. I suppose I will have to suffer with only a 94 point alpha strike instead of 102. :)

That I have only played 182 matches on this account since the achievement has been available? Sorry my Elo in not above 9000, you can take your puffy chest back up to Olympus now.

I had an amazing first match in a Prime. Conquest on the desert map. I went theta and went ape-s*** on the opfor. Like 6 kills. Was a lot of fun. Bone stock prime. Had lots of bad rounds after that, but I remember insta-gibbing a raven or spider that was hill peaking. 4 cerllas + dual uac5 and it died :)

I haven't played much for weeks but genrally its a bad place to be infront of a direwolf, so I try to move latterally as much as terrain allows.

If its with friends I'm in trouble but in my victors I can usually beat the DW 1v1 or if the helps not that helpful.

first few matches after the clan injection, I dropped in my atlas deap yellow armour damage mistimed the cooldown turn corner the alpha from the dw ended my game quickly

Yeah I am with you here. A Direwolf will chew you apart if you try to take it head on. However hit it from the flanks or even a little off its center line and it can't turn to track and hit you before you move off or get back behind cover. Hell I would bet even most Atlas mechs can out circle a Direwolf and stay out of its very, very limited fire arc, if it has room to move that is. I know anything above 64 kph can because I have seen it happen often.

On the other side of the spectrum, if a Direwolf has good support on the rear and flanks and manages to position itself in a manner that funnels the enemy to him and his frontal arc, he is terrifying. The bad thing is without support a Direwolf is just relatively easy prey. Obviously you still have to respect it, but unless you screw up badly, you don't have much to worry about.

Honestly, I fear the Warhawk much more. It still has very respectable firepower pulse has decent enough speed to maneuver itself into action or out of harms way, whatever the situation calls for.

Note: I love the build in that Broad Shoulders, Strong Back video by the way. I think I am going to use that when I finally get my Direwolf.

The DWolf has 55.5 tons of pod space.
It's a beast even if you're dumb as a post.
