That's why I never backpedal, but usually accelerate and make the DurpWhale have to try to turn. Unless he has friend protecting his porcine flanks, almost anything I have can make short work of a solo DW.
Unless, I freeze like a deer int he headlights. Then.... pain. Much pain.
So do you prefer overhand or underhand when you are jerking each other off? Pathetic forum warriors

My advice is to check your archived stats and find which mech you were most sucessfull with "Inner Sphere", and use that to base your Clan mech purchase on.
I was most sucessfull in a Jager and a Stalker... NEVER had ANY good games in an Atlas, but I currently am dominating in my Dire Wolf Purchase.
IMO the Dire Wolf is more like a Jagermech and Stalker combined more than any comparisons to an Atlas or Banshee.
If you could never survive long in an XL Jager though, stay farrrrrr awayyyy from the Daishi.
I am kinda wishing I had a Stormcrow to experiment with myself, and never was good at all in any of the lighter weight mechs.
Timberwolf while good on the field, reminds me too much of a Catapult.. go figure "mad-CAT" and I dedicate myself to exterminating any Catapult I see since a year and a half ago, especially the LRM ones. Love shooting them in the face, and still will go out of my way to charge through multiple enemies to my own quick death just to put one down with a cockpit shot... Not that any of that matters but it would be a fine choice.
Those 3 are about it.

DOOOOOOM Crow
Had my first 1300 damage game with this last night! Every now and again I swap the RT for another 6 pack, but seem to do better with the extra lasers.
I love my Crow. I hope we get Oculus Rift support eventually, so I can gaze around my cockpit adoringly in between shots.
a little hot for my tastes, but I like it, and congrats on your 1300 match!

Thanks! Yep, the heat requires discipline, especially in panic mode. That wasn't hard to adapt to though - the 4 fire groups was. Normally I don't run more than 3, but on this one I have the arms in separate groups, the torso lasers in a group, and the SRMs on my 4th mouse button.
Long range, I can get off a few alphas before I need to selectively employ group fire. Short range, I only use the arm lasers and SRMs. It's surprisingly easy to manage. Now that I'm used to it though, i'm having trouble with muscle memory in my other mechs

Now I am back to square one as, as much as I think it would be fun to melt faces in a Direwolf, I do generally prefer mechs that offer a little bit more dynamic game play which obviously the Stormcrow would provide.
So now I am again torn between the two. Do I go for one that I will probably end up playing less often but also happens to save me having to probably grind out an additional 45-50 million C-bills or do I go with the one I think I will generally jump into more often because I will get more bang for the buck out of the 30% C-bill bonus.
I guess that brings me to a new question. I already own the Timberwolf which honestly is probably about the perfect mech for me and my preferred play style so how does the Stormcrow measure up? Everyone seems to love their crow but aside from the extra speed and better hitboxes, am I gaining anything really different from the Timberwolf? For example is the play style unique or something different about it that would make me want to que up a Stormcrow over a Timberwolf?
I am curious because one thing about the Direwolf is that it pretty obviously will bring a totally different game play style to the table that I can jump into, if and when I need a change from the Timberwolf and want to mix it up a little.

I wanted to thank everyone for your help, feedback and discussion. It really helped me make my decision. Sometimes we have a great community and this thread is a good example of one of those times

It's definitely a fun mech.
