I play with my brother in a 2man group and thats how we enjoy playing. When we get placed in a solo queue, matches are very fun, challenging and more fair.
Problem is when we are placed in a group queue vs a 10man group, we are always placed with a bunch of small groups, and we get Steamrolled (NOT fun at all).
10man groups are pretty much exactly the same players as 12man groups, they are both skilled and organized and follow the "meta" using lots of LRMS, ECMS, TAGs, etc... The only difference is that 12man groups have to fight other 12man groups, which makes it challenging and balanced.
BUT 10man groups use the same tactics as 12mans but go up against multiple small groups that have trouble being organized, which makes them easy pickings. There is no challenge and is extreamly unfair. Why would they go in a 12man group when they can constantly win in 10man groups?
If we were placed with another 10man it would be fine (10+2 vs 10+2), it would be more fair and more challenging. 10mans should be placed against other 10mans or 12mans.
Currently the problem is that since 12mans can only go against 12mans it makes longer queues for them. But if they go in a 10man they can get queues faster because it uses the group queues vs smaller groups instead of the 12man queue.
Why arn't groups based on Lances? (3x 4man) or (1x 8man + 1x 4man)
My solution (based on the idea of keeping 10mans) would require 3 queues:
1. Solo queues
- Solo players
- 2man groups
2. Group queues
- 4man groups
- 8man groups
2. Big group queues
- 10man groups + 2man group
- 12man groups
The whole idea is to have fair and challenging matches. Makes the game so much better when fights are close, way more fun.

So, 2mans get to bear all the brunt of supporting a big but not full 12 man group? Kinda sucks for 2 mans. Maybe simply remove 6 x 2 man groups so you can still get 3 x 4 man vs 12, or 1 x 8 and 1 x 4 vs 12 or 1 x 10 and 1 x 2 vs 12. Seems much simpler.

I'd like you make you aware that 12 mans no longer have they're own queue. They are in group queue with us. You can encounter a 12 man and get stomped just as you can from a 10 man.
I'm feeling youon this. Last patch I was having the most fun in this game ever, no contest. I even finally managed to get my buds to come back after they abandoned it. Now, because of this patch, I'm probally going to be stuck as a solo again for another year.

12 man teams can face any combination of smaller team sizes, including other 12 man teams.
The misconception comes from how the group sizes are worded, how groups 2-10 and 12 man groups. or something along those lines, people misconstrue that to mean the two group categories are 2-10 OR 12. its both, you just can't have 11.
I still think the MM should allow 11, you just start a man short. If you have 11 co-ordinated players going 11 vs 12 isn't that big a deal, it happens often enough on the live servers as it is.

As DarkonFullPower pointed out 12man-groups do not drop against 12man-groups exclusively. They are simply matched up in the group-queue.
In fact, it does not matter how big your group is after it is larger than 4. You will always drop in the group-queue.
Groups of up to 4 can drop in solo- and group-queue. There is no way of knowing wich it will be before the drop or to decide wich you like more.

I have yet to come across a 12 man group in any group bigger than 3. That being said me and my entire guild refuse to drop in any group smaller than 5 because it guarantees we won't drop against large groups. How is this fair small teams drop against large teams only? When we drop in 3 and 2 man groups it is almost 50% of the time we drop against a 12 man, and I'm not talking about a 10 man and a 2 man group against a 12 man, I am saying a 12 man group against 5 to 6 small groups, the rest are dropping with a 10 man and our 2 man against 4 or 5 small groups, how is this fair in any way? It's like the match maker is going out of its way to punish you for dropping in a group of 2 or 3.

Before you state you are facing a 12 man drop, check the Mechs on your own team, see if you are running 3/3/3/3, because if you aren't, you are NOT facing a 12 man, you are facing a mixed group.
I've seen people complain that we are facing a 12 man in a drop when we weren't, 5 Assaults per side means it's not a 12 man, 12 man can't drop unless they are 3/3/3/3. So if you see anything but 3x4 on your side, that ain't a 12 man no matter what you think.
