So I will probably take some flack for this one, but I couldn't care less. This seems like the only option for some players. Seeing too many people screw around in game, and its making it rather unpleasant any more. Last match I was in I just got hammered by three or four enemy mechs, with a team mate sitting right beside them, not taking shots at all. He was not afk, as he was moving and did respond to me in chat, but with snide remarks about "my luck"....
Other matches are full of people who either jack command and screw around that way, people who refuse to acknowledge chat let alone work with the team on any level, and people who just want to walk around and look at the scenery (ive spectated more than one) and those special ones who like to take out half your armor within the first five steps of starting up because they want to see how shooty they are.
Since the clan patch it has seemed to have gotten 100x worse, and most matches are a joke. My scores have all dropped, and I am starting to think the game is losing its attraction to me. It really seems that there should be a way to deal with these people, either through public shaming, rating, voting them out of match, or something else, anything else. PLEASE.
Public Shaming- Only Way To Deal With Some Players?

Still no name and shame allowed though.

Hard to really cast blame without context. If he was a light mech and you were surrounded by enemy mechs in the wide-open space with no other ally in sight, it's possible he honestly saw you as a casualty of bad luck and chose to withdraw to strengthen the rest of the team. Being down one mech is much preferable to being down two, especially if you were surrounded by "three of four enemy mechs" and had no hope of survival.

Nothing good has ever come from publically shaming players.

Just how would this be implemented? What would the criteria be to be legitimately publically shamed?
Hmmmm..........................
This is a bad idea and would start a s**t storm.

I have seen much of the same thing... unfortunately last time I checked selfishness and stupidity were not against the code of conduct.
Not all PUG players are horrible. Some are new, some are tools. Not much you can do about ti as unfortunately you will have some of that in every match.
Shaming players is counter productive and leads to massive flame wars. Everything boils down to perception. You think your team mate bailed on you because they are a tool. Maybe they didn't jump in to help because you ignored them when they warned you about your chosen course of action or they saw it as a no win scenario even if they tried to help you. No point trying to help someone who is being killed if I am going to get killed just as fast.

We have an anti Name & Shame policy in MWO. There is no way to prevent false name and shame cases to appear. As such this rule is here to protect the innocent, not the guilty.
The guilty ones can be reported to support, if they violate any rules.
