Just wondering if anyone has already done this and posted it somewhere so I don't waste my time.

I sometimes get lost using the F9 coordinates to find a dc at the end of the match so I thought I'd try to map out some reference points for myself so I'd at least have a starting point to associate with the grid lines.

I always assumed maps had a 0,0 point but Forest Colony doesn't seem to. I find it odd that the grid squares are 500x500 but the lines are odd numbers like 1300,1800,2300, etc. Grid squares appear to be 500m^2.

At least it seems to be oriented to the North. I got the cord off the Training Grounds. I assume they're the same as the match maps but you never know.

bottom left corner should be 0.0 in that map.

I just hit F9 and watch which way the numbers move as I move around. A lot of times, the mini map on dead view is incorrect, so it is always best to give x/y cords.

I will say this, what the OP is going for would be useful.

Yes, but it's 800,800. And the grid lines go by 500s.

I was hoping someone like Smurfy already had done something like this but where we could type in a coordinate point and get an X on a map.

Just stick to general Names instead of precise coorinates, unless your whole team knows them. For this one, home base, enemy base, Tiny Town, Boat, Arch, Tunnel, The Shire (Upper right next to arch), and ByWater (Water south of Blue base) covers pretty much the whole map (add open killing field, I guess  )

Ah, I don't intend to shout out Dire Wolf at 2377, 800! this is mainly for the inevitable hunt for the disconnected player at the end of a match. So when the other team gives us coordinates I could have a general idea of where the dc is.

Or for when the dc is on my team I can simply give a grid instead of explaining to the other team how F9 works.

Just tested Alpine, the grid boxes are still 500m x 500m but the coordinate points are much different from Forest Colony. The "X" lines seem to go by units of 50 while the "Y" lines go by units of 500.

I was hoping each line would be the same coordinates on every map. Oh well : /

Kinda curious as to why there's such a difference in the coordinates from map to map. You'd think A1 would have coordinate point 0,0 in it and they'd go from there.

Probably because of the map development process within CryEngine.

Ah okay, I thought you were looking to call locations out. I always thought the coordinates over all speak were just BS posted by trolls...
