So I was typing in the global chat during a match and I misspelled a word but then I corrected myself in global chat quickly. Someone called me a "Grammar {Godwin's Law}" I told them that it was a spelling error but nice try.
(N word spelled with - b/c forum won't let me type it straight out)

The person then said they were the same thing...

I work in education and felt my soul get crushed just a little and couldn't type any more.

"Clans are PTW"

"LRMs OP"

"" <-- that isn't a typo (or a grammatical mistake :)), someone just opened fire on me and didn't feel like explaining why until I explicitly asked him, around the third alpha strike to the back. It turns out that I accidentally broke up the Mechwarrior equivalent of the Beatles, and rather than.. you know... point this out... he saw fit to ******** MURDER ME. When I pointed out that perhaps this was not the most logical course of action, he and all of his buddies decided to gang **** me, and I refused to fire back, so I just backed up to a solid surface and waited to die.

Oh well.

Then there was (he knows who he is, there is no need to name and shame him because being him is shame enough) who shot a teammate and then tried to blame me. Then when a random teammate said that I was in his vision the whole time and never fired a shot, he tried to say that guy was my ****** friend, then tried to get everyone to TK me. MW:O decided to disconnect me before I could defend myself further in chat.

Oh well.

Then there was the guy (on the enemy team)who decided to take deep personal offense at the fact that I was somewhat surprised by a teammate's inability to hit him, despite the guy running around in the most predictable pattern possible (really "pattern" is being generous, the dude was straight up circling around at max speed- and I don't think his Commando even had the biggest engine possible). Like he was just SO GOOD that OF COURSE no one could hit him. The rest of the match became him trying to insult me in the most infantile manner possible.

Lol.

A "grammar {Godwin's Law}" corrects others for minor errors, not themselves.

Your so tuchy you should relax.

To the OP, people tend to be even less restrained in group chat than on the forums. It's the
GIF theory. Yours actually seems pretty tame compared to some that I've seen. If they're really offensive, screen cap and report.

And oh my god, don't go on VOIP OP. I had someone doing the "BALLS OF STEEL" Duke Nukem soundboard. Hilarious initially, but after 12 minutes, I was prepared to eat my headphones.

Edit: There was a dude threatening to report people with less than 100 damage a while ago. Hilarious.

I enjoy it when players blame SOMETHING for their deaths. My favorites so far have been a player yelling that my no skill lrms killed him(I didn't have any I was pounding his rear with PPCs) and that my meta mech is OP(I wasn't aware a Firebrand with machine guns and medium lasers is now meta).

Edit for grammar

One of the most fun matches i've ever had started like that.

We kicked off, I started moving, and one of my HoneyBadger's arms went sailing off into the distance in a bid for freedom. I turned, saw the culprit, and fired. Both their arms flew off. Turns out I was mistaken. They thought the Atlas beside them fired, and threw an Alpha at him. The Atlas shot another random.

Everyone stopped, and started backing away from each other. I typed into chat "Guys...." and then all hell broke loose. It was amazing.

By the time the enemy team got to us, there was my Awesome and one other mech left standing. We'd both seen better days. Surprisingly, the other team offered to duel our remaining mechs. I agreed, started walking into the water, and my mech's guts exploded out it's chest.

Turns out the other survivor on our team was a well known goon. He was also the same guy that started the whole thing.

The most annoying, idiotic and soul crushing comments I have seen typed in chat were my own and went something like this:

"wwwwwwwwwdddsdsssdddd"

The most annoying in game comments I have seen is where someone on the winning team types "GG" at the end of a match that is something like 12-2.

I just say "really?"

A good game is a game that is played well by both sides and usually ends up with a close score. The best, at least to me, are 1-3 mechs alive on each side at the end of the match battling to the death leaving only one mech standing.

A total curb stomp is NEVER a "good game" and it's poor sportsmanship for anyone on the winning side to say so!

I had a match the other night. First solo matches in a long time. There was this one kitfox pilot spent the whole match before he disconnected yelling at our team to "LRM OR DIE" and that "LRM IS VICTORY". Finally after about 5 minutes of this he declared we were going to lose because we weren't LRMing and he disconnected.

LOL he probably had a NARC on his mech and didn't want his spotting to go to waste because no one on his team was using LRMs.

Just pointing something out here... a 12-2 game isn't necessarily a curbstomp. MWO matches are a fight of attrition. It is quite possible for both sides to duel and grind at each other, while one side takes ever slightly more damage than the other, and then suddenly plummet in combat ability because they're mostly out of armor and are starting to lose side torsos (and often mechs entirely due to XL) and therefore massive drops in combat capability which then emboldens the other side (which is still badly damaged but still with its full combat capability) to swoop in and finish the job.

This usually is still a good game. It is just that the match score doesn't really reflect it.

Probably, but the funny thing is he was just sitting back behind all of us while doing this. Plus I've never heard anyone talk about LRM like it was something awesome and mandatory to bring to a match. Just left me speechless and I closed the game after that match because it really made me question the intelligence of people who play this game.

Funny you should mention that.

Earlier today, I was chided for my "lack of education" because I misspelled something in the heat of battle. Well, I retorted by calling him the "Spelling Police". :)
