Please correct me if i'm wrong, but weren't light mechs supposed to get a little love this patch? By love I mean a reduction in fall damage.

Was anyone else expecting this? I know I heard/read it somewhere.

I can't answer your question, but i recently LOLed when i killed myself with orange legs falling from the drop ship on the ice map (i don't recall the name of just now) while being chased by my designated killer.

During the Locust Scourge event last week, a lot of us legged ourselves within the first couple minutes. This was with zero armor, but even with armor, a locust can easily leg himself by the end of any match when you factor in enemy fire. It's nearly unplayable for an average player.

"trying for July 15th patch" :D

How difficult is it to change a number and see how it works for the next two weeks? It really aggravates me that these simple number balances aren't added frequently. Probably overlooked, wouldn't doubt it.

they should change the fall damage for all types, the drop altitude of a floating drop ship is about 70 feet and all mechs should to endure it without damage

I haven't felt the need for a change in any other weight class, but it is extremely noticeably for light mechs.

I agree Solahma.

Even if it ended up being more beneficial to some lights than it should be for a week of two. Tweaking them for the better and making some of the non-JJ lights more viable is better than them not being played due to current disadvantage.

Worse case is the adjustment only makes them take damage like they did before the patch.

Its really hard to run around most maps at 100kph+ currently as a light without taking significant leg damage, even if you don't jump off obvious terrain features or use jj's recklessly

The fall damage compared between a Light and Medium Mech is disproportionate... haven't tried this patch (at work), but the other day... orange leg, dropped maybe 10-15 meters... leg destroyed. And this is me feathering my JJs and doing all I can do minimize fall damage because Lights Mechs already got paper-thin armor, right? LOL! PGI... investigate plz :D

I'm guessing there's a reason that the Light Mech queue is often down at 12% during my playing hours - and it's not just that everyone loves their Mad Cats and Daishis. =)

I have noticed for a long time now, and put it to practice, that if you run off a cliff and use your JJs to soften the fall, even to the point of stopping mid air a meter over the ground, you will still take leg damage.

However, if you tap your JJs just before running off the cliff, then soften the fall, you won't take any damage if you do it right.

That's great but a great portion of light mechs can't even carry jump jets.

I play a Locust regularly and I actually take less leg damage now, since I am more careful about where I run. It's not that bad. The only difference is that you can't sneak up the hill in Alpine, run interference, and then jump to safety. Well, actually you can, but only once and you better pray that nobody shoots your legs during the combat phase.

However, I would still welcome a reduction in some way (lower damage or altered trigger parameters), just so I can be a lazier pilot. :P

I play a Locust regularly, even with careful piloting it either restricts you or you still take some level of fall damage even on terrain that it pretty easy to navigate. ANY damage on a Locust is a lot of damage though... It already has so much going against it, why does it's movements have to be severely restricted AND still get damaged a good amount of the time. Punished for a mistaken turn that went too wide, avoid a fatal hit by turning down a hill that was a little too steep. You get punished for everything you do in a Locust.
