Sounds like a snitch

Well putting the blame on and rubbishing/accusing every ISP in the world for a problem that is only happening with their game isnt going to make alot of ISPs happy, especially when said statement is an out right lie concerning some if not most of them.
I would hate to be a certain company if any large ISP take ecception to that statement.
Just saying, do as you please.

I had the "The servers are currently undergoing maintenance." message waited tried again, waited, and tried another time. Same message... look to forums to see what broke, and I see this thread. Something about DNS change to make MWO work. Well, shoot. I don't have any time for that now. So I bookmarked the instructions given to the google page and will try tomorrow, after work. :P But on the plus side I know what the problem is and how to,hopefully, fix it.

The Workaround is a proper fix, However, the question and concern of everyone is, "I dont want to keep my computer settings like this, how long will I have to stick to this fix"?

*correction*
A DNS propagation can take as long as 48hrs, so fingers crossed anytime within that period.

Same error message as everyone else. FIOS user outside Tampa, FL. Used the change DNS server info in post #187 and I am now able to patch (and hopefully play). Really should get this corrected. Been playing since February and NEVER had any problem logging in. Still believe something is goofy on PGI/IGP's side that was accidentally released in this update.

Once you're patched, you can simply go straight back to the bit where you entered in the DNS IP and select the option back to what it was previously.

False, this does not work for me. Still need a DNS change to launch and play.

Been having the problem for the past 10 hours, even after flushing the DNS. I'll try a reboot. ISP: Eastlink in the Maritimes.

I read all your help here, played around with my settings for like an hour and finally got it to work with just the ipv4 changed. I'm quite furious about the whole thing. You can blame whoever you want, but I'm telling you I pay you guys alot of money so I can use a product you sell without having to mess around with it for an hour to get it to work, because you decided to release a patch. I'm assuming this isn't going to be a reoccurring issue.

Global DNS replication when something alters can be painful for any company that updates or alters IP address associated with DNS entries.

You can use a tool such as 'whatmydns' or similar to clarify replication of a specific record in the global space. No guarantees, but it does show some servers are yet to update for patcher.mwomercs.com. So by changing the IPv4 setting to 'Google' you're just saying use those servers for an authoritative response to get the right IP to connect.

https://www.whatsmyd...er.mwomercs.com

Just change it, and alter it back in a day or two when things have settled down.

Ra.

what most likely happened is the patch server shifted or moved and it changed IP's the slower DNS server of some providers aren't updating it so its giving everyone a error because it doesn't get a responce it expect that is why the google dns work around works.
