Congrats PGI, you really outdid yourself this time.
My drops in my brawling highlander have been absolutely amazing. I literally can't jump over ANYTHING with 2/4 JJ, and it doesn't really help me turn faster to spread damage, but I'm just excited that I never get shot with Gauss or PPCs anymore!
I mean, **** it, the highlander wasn't meant for traversing terrain or jumping or anything anyways, I'll just run around in it ******* **** up with no JJ!
Even better, every victor I've run into has DRASTICALLY changed their builds so they don't have this stupid high alpha anymore. Oh and the Direwolves too! None of them boat PPC or Gauss since the JJ change has brought those weapons back in line! Much better playing environment imo

And leave the Direwhales alone. They're what Awesomes SHOULD be (albeit with ballistics thrown in instead of being pure energy). Slow, devastating boats of pure DAKKA!

You need to work on picking up sarcasm easier m8. I mean, I could practically taste the sarcasm it was so obvious.

I actually have to agree with you there, I do like Direwhales how they are. Devastating if you look at one in the eyes, but if you just don't stand in front of it, you're fine.
I guess I'm more referring to how yes, they killed poptarting, but they killed the SHIIIT out of any big 'mech that used JJ as utility or mobility. My lights aren't terrible, and even my catapults can use JJ reasonably well, but my highlander may as well not fit any JJ at all. I have to fit max JJ to clear even the SMALLEST cliff in any map.
Summary of why shouldn't I fit JJ at all on my HGN?
-I need to sacrifice 8 tons to clear the smallest hills
-I get no turning bonus to help me tank
-I get no mobility bonus as I can get up a hill faster by running sideways, zigzagging across it instead of jumping over it.
-The 2 or 4 or 8 tons I save from a mobility HINDERING device could be much better allocated to weapons or speed.
-I would bet money that any tonnage spent on a larger engine instead of JJ would actually get me over cliffs faster than max JJ

"Working as intended"...
Folks are still so flipping caught up in the JJ adjustment they can't grasp the fact that this was not just an outright nerf to JJs... It's also a cost/benefit logic mechanic for meta-mechs that were previously getting away with minimal JJ config + full kit weapon configurations.
You want maximum maneuverability you're going to have to sacrifice elsewhere...

But the thing is that the maneuverability of the meta builds isn't the problem. It's the fact that meta builds can do a LOT of damage in a very SMALL time window. With the old JJ, meta builds were able to get a small window to shoot OVER something. Now, that's the only thing they can't do quite as well. They still out dps other mechs and they still do better pinpoint damage than other mechs, all in a very small amount of time. All the JJ change did was nerf 'mechs like the highlander which were MEANT to use JJ to great effect.

I've lost all hope that PGI actually reads and considers ANY post in ANY part of the forum. I really just want to complain about how my highlander is better off in any situation without JJ than with them.

Viable yes. But not nearly so nimble or high pop tarty. I find that on my JJ builds I'm spending more time trying to fire them without jumping. Jumping takes more time now so its not as easy to do it on the fly, or nearly as much up and down. Also I'm spending more time trying out and playing NON jump jet builds. Whereas before it was hurting me to not have JJ, its now not nearly so severe.
Yes it can still be done, but its not nearly as easy or comfortable to do.
I may miss the highly agile jumping, BUT I HIGHLY APPROVE THE CHANGES.

I may have misspoke when I said something about poptarts. You're right in quoting PGI about that, and I should've made my negative comments specifically about high pinpoint alphas, not poptarting!

Although based on the Nova-specific nerf, the Dire Wolf-specific nerf, and the upcoming Dire Wolf-specific nerf... I'm not sure about their method of handling pinpoint alphas is going to be...
