SOoo yeah after the dates being pushed back and the pretty lackluster founders package i want you guys to try out another mechwarrior game that has jets, mechs, tanks, hovercrafts, Battle armor infantry and a full simulation experience. This is much more towards the battletek universe and is the best game ive ever played.

We all know about MW:LL already. ;)

And as a matter of fact, it's not entirely free, since you have to buy Crysis: Warhead.

That right there is why I have not tried MW:LL yet. I would rather spend my money supporting the game I really want (MWO) than a game that I would never play, just to be able to use a mod for it - which would never see a drop of the money I'd spend anyway :/

Its ten bucks, that's the price of a movie ticket. A very good deal for entertainment that will last you a month until MWO opens it's doors. I highly recommend MWLL, it does have some rough edges here and there but those are nothing more than a trivial inconvenience, for something truly free it is an amazing achievement.

I implore all you forum lurkers to try it!

bought crysis wars in a steam sale for 5 bucks, donated the mwll team 10 bucks.
worth every cent as far as i am concerned.

but i know what you´re saying wardenwolf, without the sale i propably wouldn´t have picked it up.

I have heard of MW:LL before, don't have it, but do like the look of it. The one thing that might be a negative is that when the mechs are walking they sort of look constipated....

True some animations seem off, but honestly you wont really notice them. The uller and warhammer are the worst i think, but most look fine.

Hey im not saying anything against mwo im an avid mechwarrior fan and i cant WAIT. But honestly no battle armor infantry, no dice for me in terms of comparison. 10 dollars to play one of the most amazing games ive ever played is NOTHING. If you dont have that then get a better job...

MWLLs 5.7 patch is just about to be released with 2 new battle armor (ground infantry) units and almost 10 new mechs and jets. While the short, round based deathmatch setting of MWO seems fun, nothing beats running through a small army of mechs, jets, and tanks defending a base with base turrets firing at you in a 60 minute all out brawl. If you dont think MWLL is golden you havent played it.

Here here fresh meat, good to see you on the forums Helo here. We have played together many times. I for one will still be playing MWLL after MWO comes out. Nothing beats landing on top of an assault mech with infantry and blowing its arms off with BA weapons. *nergasm*

I dont post often, but when i do i post dos equis. In all seriousness I heard about mwll a few years ago, went through the insane hassle of getting it working, stopped playing. Since then they updated to using crysis wars and really smoothed things out, 4 months ago i picked it back up redownloaded the much stream lined install expierence and got going. The combat and overall expierence are fantastic, the few graphic glitches that exist are not even noticed during play unless your looking hard for it. I play for at least 6-8hrs a week its a great game to play in general not to mention while waiting. My two cents.

I just got my brother to start playing, and he likes it and he is not even a big mech warrior fan. I play this often. +1

Not like I haven't heard of LL it just isn't my kind of Mechwarrior game, and the art direction and animations are really ******. Lack of proper mechlab setup and horrible game balance (1 mech is just better than others). I've been playing the other MW games instead, MW4 has a multiplayer that i occasionally crack out from time to time if i need my fix.

Actually, it's not.
  • There is no 'Mech lab
  • Battle Armor / Elementals can mount PPCs and Autocannons
  • Ranges are ridiculously out of proportion to each other
  • There is no falling damage
  • There is no collision damage
  • Tanks are harder to kill than 'Mechs
  • Rear armor values are close to the front armor values
  • Coolant flush
Not to say it isn't fun, but it's far from "the ultimate BattleTech experience." The mod team has done an amazing job of turning a mediocre FPS into a 'Mech sim.

FYI:

You need Crysis: Wars to play Living Legends. Warhead is singleplayer, WARS is multiplayer.

Yes, MechWarrior: Online is free to play. Just that until August 7th rolls around, it's invite only.

Wait, really? Okay, sorry MWLL fans - but no Mech Lab = I don't play :)

And yes, I do happen to think I am better at picking armament for mechs than all of the IS and Clan mech engineers combined

I do believe they're working on one, but it may not be for a long time =/

I think customizing the gear on tanks and aerospace units will prove quite interesting...

By the way, for all you griping about animation and graphics issues and bugs in this game, imo, they're quite hard to really notice when you get into it. Sure, the mech walking isn't very good yet, but when you're shooting one, that detail vanishes quite quickly (for me).

Not unless that copy came with Crysis Wars. The Living Legends mod stopped supporting Crysis as of version 0.5.0 (current version is 0.5.6).
