my best MWO moment was the first time I truly discovered the advantages of a fast Mech, this was a long time ago, in closed beta or possibly early open beta, before the Stalker made it in game

On Caustic I was in a Cicada 3M armed with 4 ML and an LB10x AC, my Mech was fully functional but had taken some serious damage to its armour, . I saw an enemy Atlas running away from its teammates in near perfect condition so I started following it, long story short, after removing all the rear armour from the Atlas centre torso and getting it to a state where I was confidant I could kill it with 1 shot if needed I started stripping the Mech, one component at a time, annoyingly during this time a "friendly" had noticed my epic battle with the Atlas and decided to help, he got the final hit on the rear centre torso and the kill, however that is one of very few matches where I have passed 800 damage (more than half of it was against that Atlas) and it helped me realise that I was a light Mech pilot at heart (yes despite the weight the Cicada should count as a light).

Until that point I had considered myself to be a bad pilot, and had never dared to attack an assault unsupported unless in an assault myself. I also realised that a lone assault Mech is in serious trouble if a fast Mech gets close, for the next few months I frequently used the Cicada as an assault hunter, and rarely lost a fight with an assault (however most other weight classes were a different matter and recently this tactic has become much less effectave)

Double kill with a single artillery strike after weakening them with some sniping.

Close second, one shotting a completely fresh commando in the back side torso in my HGN-733c as he tried to run past my lance. Comms was like: "Wait, wasn't there a commando there?" "Well, there was... for a second. LOL"

I have a lot of moments that could qualify as best MWO moment in my Splatcat when splatcats were all the rage. One match (when it was 8v8) in River City Night I basically just went behind their team, and 1-2 shot everyone they had because they were distracted by the rest of my team. With an atlas getting 2 shotted, and he ran away and was the last one alive (He had no arms/side torsos left), I didn't finish him off because while splatcat is awesome, it is a tad low on ammo so you don't want to waste any shot It was like playing the Spy in TF2.
Just any game with Catapults(excluding K2, which removes 2 things that makes the catapult awesome) is a fun time though. Perfect blend of everything, and I love missles.

More recently, a less than a week ago I had a duel in a Wolverine 6R vs a Highlander. He and his buddies were going straight for our base on assault, however his 2 buddies ditched him, and I was standing behind him for a couple minutes so I could spot for an ally because we had some LRMers. He got close to seeing me 2-3 times making me go "OH ****", since while he was built more for LRMing, he actually had some decent backup weapons, and I'd rather not let myself get hurt more than I need to. When he finally did See me, my ally stopped firing LRMs on him soon after that (probably to kill the Assaults killing the base). So I had an ice long duel with the highlander, then I almost finished him, but I ran out of ammo on my LB10x (I killed TimberWolf that was harassing an ally earlier, and shot some other people too), so I lost more of my damage that way, so he then killed me when he had a cherry red torso. Less than 3 seconds later a Spider comes by and uses 2 medium lasers to 1 shot the highlander. :P

Another good one is where a cataphract buddy (not grouped mind you, I only pug) and I basically defended our base on assault (before turrets were added) from 6 different people, just long enough for our team to steamroll the rest of their team, and come back to the base. My memory is a little fuzzy atm (and I'm too lazy to search my own post for the specifics). Though I will say, seeing nearly full health allies come back to your base to finish off some enemies that are almost dead when you're almost dead makes you go "OMG THANK YOU! HELP ME!" even when there were only 2 very injured enemies left.

Another fun game was where my team got heavily steamrolled when I went off to cap gamma in Alpine peaks. Then I asked the enemy team for a duel at gamma since there was no way I would win against 10 people. Only a hunchback came, so I proceeded to duel the hunchback, He killed me, but I missed a couple shots which led to my downfall when he only had 1 hit left. It was a good duel. This was when I was still rather new to MWO, and during the very short time I played a dragon (playing it later when CW comes for reduced cost/whatever benefits). I may have been a heavy, but when the only weapons I had on me was an LB10x, and a couple medium lasers, against Laserboating Hunchback on a cold map, I can't say I'm too surprised he won. We had a little fun chatting after. :)

Getting into mediums lately because of queue times, and because I know I'd rather pilot any other class other than mediums, so I'm getting them out of the way, and so I don't diss the class without playing it.
Anytime I kill something much larger than myself by myself feels really awesome, I just don't get that whenever I pilot a heavy because you're rather expected to do that because of all the damage you dish out, while still having similar speed to a medium, and having more armor.
Playing the Blackjack today for the first time, I feel as if I have invisibility turned on or something, everyone always ignores me to go kill something else. It also takes them much longer to realize I'm there when I'm shooting them when I'm hill humping, even when they were looking in my general direction in the first place. So because of this, I've gotten a lot of really easy kills with the Blackjack. Makes me feel like I'm playing the spy from TF2 all over again, I just keep getting up behind people and nibbling at their rear armor.
In a recent game I was being an absolute tard on crimson straight by jumping in the middle of 7 enemies, and I never got shot once (intentionally anyways). They were all distracted from my team shooting them from all sides, but it was surprising none-the-less because you'd think at least one person would change their focus towards the blackjack that just shredded a Dire Wolf's CT, then killed a Wolverine by shooting it's rear. The whole time I wasn't even making an attempt to dodge anything aside from a little back and forth motion because I was being lazy.
There's just something so awesome when every mech in a match is at the same place all firing at each other at the same time, with you being in the middle of it all, and all it takes for you to die is just for someone to look in your direction and shoot you in the back once or twice.

Once on one of my many flanking moves, I came across a lone DDC while piloting my brawler TW. After a brief struggle, I managed to disarm his weapons. Being the secret merciful Clanne-- I mean, Davion I am I decided to spare him. He became my pet Atlas, following me about, until he became annoying, at which point I had to put him down. Sad.

Actually, what is sad is that a TW can easily outgun a Atlas in a close up brawl. :)

With no arms and no ammo, my most glorious moment was caught on the stream. Warning,it's a little loud.

Marching my founders atlas through the enemy line, untouched, to cap their base behind them. That was certainly up there.

I have two that stand out. In closed beta there were a grand total of four mechs. At the time the Hunchback was my ride of choice. Fourth or fifth game I played, was wrecked and all I had left was my head mounted small laser. I was the last player left on my team facing off against an Atlas who was down to his center torso medium lasers. Plinked him to death with my small laser though it took some time!

Second, also closed beta. Was driving an Atlas, last player left on my team and one player left on the enemy team, who happened to be Paul Inouye in a Jenner. I had lost an arm and my missiles but otherwise felt good about my chances. Backed up into an area where he couldn't get behind me and a second later the effin game disonnected me!

My most fun kill was with my legged raven against a fully healthy Dragon on Alpine Peaks. He took his time running towards me, exchanging some damage, and once he stopped I called for arty; the plume landed exactly on his head. The arty plus an alpha killed him. I was the last player alive and the audience really liked it :)

No screenshots of mine, but it was back in open beta when it was still 8v8

Me and a buddy are dropping in our Awesome's, him in a 9M, me in my Pretty Baby, both of them close in fighting builds. Map is forest colony.

Most of our team goes woods, my buddy and I along with one pug go water, encounter two enemies there. They fall back behind boat and we take them on while their team blasts PPC shots across the water at us. We take out the two in water at the cost of the pug that went with us, but there's one problem: the only two people on our team left alive are me and my buddy.

We fall back into the hills and await our 6v2 roflstomp. First a K2 jumps out and rushes us with twin AC20s. He gets a good shot on my buddy but we have him down before he can fire again. Then two Centurions try and pinch us, but they go down without getting much more than a few medium lasers and an AC10 shot on me.

A stalker in the water hits me with enough PPCs to make Betty tell me I'm about to die. We charge the stalker, staying within 90 meters, and we eat his lunch.

Just two left, not so bad! What's this coming around the corner? Oh, just an Atlas DDC and...an Atlas DDC. Good! The other 6 players on our team at least did something because one Atlas goes down as soon as we look at him. After that, just two beat to hell Awesome's and a fresh Atlas. He's kind enough to not put his back against anything solid, so we stand astride him, hiding our broken torsos when he looks and gutting his back armor when he looks at the other.

Atlas goes down, two man Awesome premade stands atop the world! I got myself a beer with shaky hands after that. I'd earned it!

Best moment: Getting the Bridesmaid achievement in the LRM trial Stalker. That thing was a kill-stealing machine for me, and to get top damage with NO kills? Quite the shock! ;)

This thread is EXACTLY what these forums need more of!

One of my funniest moments was a cap battle before turrets. I was capping in my Locust when an enemy Hunchie comes sauntering up. A quick look at the scores and I see that we are the last two alive, now sitting on either side of the resource gathering whatever it is base. Of course, with us both in the square nothing is happening.

Thus begins a hilarious game of ring-around-the-rosy where he is ineffectually trying to hit me and I'm nipping at his back. I eventually prevail, much to his frustration. He-just-couldn't-figure-out-how-to-get-at-me-grrraaarrrghrage!

I think it was tourmaline desert and I was using my Stalker back before ghost heat. Both sides had just entered the skirmish zone near the crashed ring drop ship remains. I get a lock on a untouched Atlas and managed to get a once in a life time head instant kill via an alpha strike of ER-PPC's from nearly max range.

The sheer amount of sputtering he had about hacks and cheating in chat was epic.

i had my best moment in my BLR-1G(P) Battlemaster (long time ago, while i was still in the levelling phase).
It was on Crimson. Our team did not really well, mechs falling left and right. My mech was beaten hard, too, lost an arm to the point when the gamecounter showd 5:10. It was just me and a Dragon (piloted by PrestigeHD who i didnt know to that point) left. We were fighting like heroes when we made our way up to the top of the "garage". 2 enemys died in concentrated fire and we pulled back slowly to the "kappa" region. They were coming from 3 sides at once now! LRMs, Laserfire and AC shots from everywhere. We turned our mechs´ backsides to each other and fired without pause at whatever moved. All remaining enemys died. I stil dont know how! The best thing was the "gg mechwarriors! I cant believe what i just witnessed"- from one of the enemys!
I ended this round with 6, The dragon with 1 kills which happened all within the last 2 minutes of the game!

I will take this opportunity to honour Good Guy Reax, a stranger who saved my ass over a year ago.

Short story:
  • I'm in my Atlas, fighting a single Stalker on Frozen City. I'm isolated from the rest of my team.
  • I destroy the Stalker after a long duel, but my mech is almost destroyed inthe process.
  • A wild Splatcat appears! It alphastrikes me with 6xSRM6+Artemis! It is super effective.
  • Suddenly, Good Guy Reax appears in his Flame hero mech, drawing the Catapult's attention away from me. He stays on the opposite side of the catapult, letting me strike the Catapult's rear CT.
  • The Catapult resumes its attack on me, and I'm almost dead at this point. I alpha strike like crazy, but I overheat and my mech shuts down.
  • Good Guy Reax steps between me and the Catapult while I am shut down.
  • He takes a couple of alpha strikes to the face, while I cool down.
  • I step out from behind Reax and kill the Splatcat.
Posted Image

Ever since this happened, I've never seen anyone intentionally put themselves in harm's way to shield my mech. But since that day, I've made damn sure I did exactly that when it was needed, to honour Good Guy Reax.

One of my earlier favorite moments from back in Closed Beta (prior to DHS even). Quite an intense match and even though I was already enjoying the game, this was one of those rounds that pretty much hooked me in completely.

My Gauss Boss (3xGauss Illya) the last day of charging 3 gauss at a time, the very last game I played that night.

Terra therma, Conquest: I walked for the first 6 minutes of the game chasing the battle at 49 KPH, when I finally arrived, there were 6 enemies left to our 4, I began dispatching mechs left and right, killing 4 in aprox. 1 minute
(BJ,Cicada,CTF,&highlander). We lost 1 of our own in that time, and a friendly got a kill aswell making it our 3 vs their 1.
I had 4 Gauss rounds left and began capping the Epsilon as my 2 team mates ran off to cap theta.

Suddenly a fresh Huggin appeared and started to circle and rear core me with MGs and missles, I had to hold my shot because I knew I only had 1 chance. I lined it up and let loose with 45 damage at point blank... only 1 registered and opened up a side torso to orange internals, my teamates returned in time to make him struggle to finish me, I fired my last round hitting him in the leg as he jumped, out of ammo and nearly cored I pulled the pin on my ARTY strike and danced in the sweet red smoke, as the raven cored me, sweet vengance rained from the sky, dusting the raven in a volley HE artillery rounds.

The best game I ever had in my Gauss Boss Illya was my very last (I played nearly 400 games in it), it was a very dear mech to me, and I will never forget that match.

Everyone on my team is dead. There are 5 enemy mechs still alive and surrounding my location. But they made one big mistake. They attacked my home planet!
