So you've joined this community, eh?

Now you might ask"Hey IraqiWalker, how do I make all these handy dandy posts that everyone else seems to make?"

Well, glad you asked buddy, I've compiled this list to help you do just that, and figure out what to do to get some of the effects people get. Inside each spoiler (which you will also learn how to make) will be the description, plus a demonstration, for the cases that need it.

First thing to keep in mind is that this forum use BBC editing, as such when you have a marker that starts an event, there should be a marker that ends it. The "/" ends the event. Examples in the code below:

Quoting

first most commonly used function is quoting. To use that one you just click the "quote" button at the lower right corner of a post. Keep in mind that this is the bottom right of the post, not the signature. So it should be above the signature. Doesn't seem like an important note, until you see some big sigs.

As someone who tends to use this feature a lot, I have gotten very familiar with it. Quoting someone's post gives them an update letting them know that someone has responded to that specific post. The forum engine does have a problem when you have more than 20 quotes in one post though. I will need to do more testing to figure out the exact number, but it's a safe bet that you should keep the max number of quotation fields in you post as under 16.

these are created by adding one marker before the sentence you want to hide, and a closing one after it.
in this case the marker you want is "spoiler" put between square brackets "[]", and then "/spoiler" to close the spoiler. Also, between square brackets.

Changing text Font and Size

This one is very simple. Most text editing involves highlighting the target text, after that the steps are similar, find the icon, and click it. In this case, click the "Font" drop down menu to change the type of font. Next to it is the "Size" drop down menu, click on that brings out multiple size choices, it should be noted that the "normal" size is 14.

Bolding

The large B is for making letters "bold". I personally short cut that one by highlighting what I want to bolden and then while things are highlighted I press CTRL+B. Keep in mind that you can click the B again to turn the highlighted letters back to normal.

Italicizing

the leaning I identical to the bolding section except you press CTRL+I to get the effect

Underlining

It's the U and works the same way as the previous two. Press CTRL+U after highlighting the target text to get the effect.

Horizontal Rule

Used to put a big line across a post to separate one section from another, much like I did up there. it is done by using the "hr" marker, enclosed within two square brackets much like most other markers you will encounter

Linking URLs

To link a url as a specific text. Such as having the words "link" show up underlined for people to click and take them to a smurfy build or something else like that you will have to get complicated a bit.

first you need to put an open bracket "[" then "url="copy in the url you want, put closed bracket"]"what you want to show to people (in this case the word "link". Then add open bracket "[", /url, then closed bracket"]"

Posting Images

To post an image as is, they have to be uploaded to an online hosting site. Such as photobucket (my personal favorite), and then you just click on the image button, put the URL in, and you get the picture into the post.

How to post C-Bill and MC Icons

In the editor third icon from the left, on the top row you will find an icon that says "special BBC code" in there you will find those two, along with other helpful features.

You can also just put "cb" for Cbills, or "mc" for MC within two brackets to get the same effect.

Posting Code

simply put code /code between brackets to get the job done

Fixed the Code tag somehow. Just make sure the "/" does not have a space between it and the "code" part.

I hope this helps everyone work the forums a bit better. Any suggestions, additions, and feedback are more than welcome.

These actually have buttons in the editor, they're right below the smiley button.
For links: Highlight the text to be linked and click the link button ( chain link icon ) then paste the url in the input field and click "ok".
For images: click where you want the image to appear, then click the image button ( polaroid picture icon ) , paste the image url in the input field and click "ok".

Also your code tags are broken, we're not allowed use nested code tags apparently.

Implemented a kind of "fix" for the code tags
