Light: Have you tried Jenners?
Medium: Try some Trebuchet's. They have arm mounted hardpoints for the most part and are able to equip JJ's (well, most variants--I prefer the J model and the Hero one as well)

For your consideration:

Jenner
Firestarter
(how you could play a locust long enough to master it ... I have no idea :P )

Jagermech (Nice range of builds and options - probably my favorite heavy at the moment - high mounted arm weapons)
Jester (it is a fun Catapult if you like them ... fairly limited selection of builds but it can be fast for a heavy)

Griffins are a fun chassis to play even with the questionable hardpoint placements. Slap a big XL engine in em and load up with jump jets, SRMA's and some energy weapons. You can be a very effective 100+ KPH flanker/skirmisher or light hunter if using streaks and BAP. Larger slower mechs cant keep up with your speed while circling and doing the hit and run tactic is devastating as well.

Regards

Thanks for the thoughts guys.

As I said in the Initial post, all of Chassis I own currently are MASTERED. I have had three of every chassis, and ones I still have more then 1 of are variants I liked enough to keep a second of the same chassis with.

I have done, and Mastered Jenners, Jaggers, and Centurions, though I no longer own a single one of them.

Will look very closely at the Griffin / Banshee when I get home tonight.

Griffin is pretty nice, but Wolverine is not nearly as good. Griffins make good LRM skirmishers, or fast SRM/Streak runners. Their large twist angle and fast twisting also makes them very agile. Of course the jump jet nerf has screwed them up quite a bit, so YMMV until thats corrected.

I'm saving up for the Nova personally, only a month away from being available for CBills!

Medium: Griffin - mainly for the ridiculous torso twist, it can literally shoot directly behind itself when mastered. the 3M is my favourite, but the 1N is also good. not really a fan of the 1S, has too much of its firepower in one lightly armoured arm.

Heavy: Jagermech - high mounted AC goodness (dont get the JM6-A, its bad, the others are all good)

Assault: Banshee-3E. its just all kinds of win with 3x AC5 and 2xPPC or 2xERLL
OR
Assault: Victor - the non hero variants all have mainly arm mounted energy + ballistic ports, so should be up your street.

edited due to fail reading comprehension. sorry.

Go Griffin!

The Wolverine can be fun as well, but it's more of a 'mech builder's challenge - can you find a good Wolverine build?

Griffin is all sorts of fun and I can't imagine you'd regret the decision. Someone also mentionned the Dragon and though it gets a lot of hate thrown its way it is a fun mech which relies mostly on arm mounted weapons. You're an experienced pilot so I'm sure you could make it work.

The Jag.... isn't what it used to be.

The Griffins are awesome SRM boats. 3xSRM6A + ERPPC is a solid build and works well. Wolverines.... less so.

After the Shads though, my advice?

Go Atlas.

Griffins! Griffins!

Wolverines... You'd think they'd be awesome, but only one is decent at all and even then, the hardpoints are so limiting it's... meh. I was really looking forward to the Wolverine when I got my Sabre Reinforcement Pack, but... I never really enjoyed them.

Griffins, though... Seriously, you need to pilot one to understand. It's not about numbers, or even hardpoints, it's all in the feel. They're just awesome to pilot.

Gotta say, when Jagers where released, I really enjoyed them. But these days, I just don't. I'm not really sure what changed that wrecked them for me, though.

I'd just sell them, if I could make myself sell mechs. But I know if I did? Suddenly, I'd want to pilot one again.

The only medium mech I have mastered is the Wolverine and to me they seem to respond perfectly. I still have all three of them as each one fills a different role in organized team play of 10-12 man drops. Of them I only use the 6R and the 7K.

I managed to find a build that I felt comfortable in with each of the basic variants. I can tell you that without a good sized engine they do seem clunky.

Out of them all my favorite hands down has to be the 6R which is odd because the first time I saw it I hated the hardpoints. Turns out it can make one hell of a flanking-skrimishing-brawler type mech. I ended up slapping an XL 355 engine in it to get it up to 115 KPH, 6 of 7 jumpjets for very responsive aerial twisting and brawling and it can get places I never would have thought possible.

It may be no Griffin but I love the little guy and he packs a firepower of 50.2 and has a shield arm to boot that has no hardpoints. Sometimes it is just nice to be different and enjoy something that is not the norm.

I'm pretty sure the chirpy noises that make it sound like some sort of overgrown Grasshopper are part of that awesome feel as well. So perfect.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my Wolverines every bit as much as the Griffins. Of the three PP 55 toners, though, the Shadow Hawks have the easiest time building something that works well. The Griffins were next - I think because the hard points are so limited. The Wolverines, though, always feel like you *could* have a slightly better build, if only you tweaked it a little more.

They were really helped by the SRM fix, though. My 6R and 7K are now in a happy place. The 6K is reserved for Stock Mech Mondays. (max armor!) :)

One of the many reasons I wish a mech's stock armor would matter. Many of the mechs with the great hardpoints got it at a huge loss in either engine or armor.

In the case of the Cataphract 4X, it was at the sacrifice of the engine, maintaining high armor.
In the case of the Cataphract 3D, it was at the sacrifice of armor. ....but they still get max armor, why?

Its like many Wolverines have enough armor at stock to compete with Stalkers which are 30 tons heavier and clearly outclass every single Victor in armor. But that greatness is turned to crap, because their hardpoints blow as a result even after they were fluffed with more hardpoints.

Boy howdy, regretting this decision so far.

God I hope they get better, or perhaps I find a build to work with me.

The Banshee wouldn't have made you feel that way.
