My preferred ON1-VA loadout is AC2, 2xStreak2, 2xALRM15, biggest XL it can take with BAP, TAG, and at least 7 tons of of ammo. It's more of a close-medium range skirmisher than a brawler, though.
If you want to brawl, I'd slightly tweak the mini-Atlas builds everyone's proposed to this: ON1-VA, 4xSRM2, 2xML, 1xAC10, STD325.
Or go with 2xASRM6, 2xASRM4, 1xAC5, STD 325 engine. The Orions are tanky but not that tanky. Getting 77kph gives you a bit more survivability.

Just recently getting into Orions and liking them quite a bit. Considering my other heavies are Pults and Tbolts the extra 10 tons helps I think.
I prefer to try make my chassis differ in some way so they are not more or less clones of each other. If they're all the same then what's the point of having them (other than levelling)?
So I chose the Protector, K and VA and built all 3 different that way when I want something different I have it available but still in a 75 ton chassis.
I'll start with Protector:
What's special about Protector? He's got the dual ballistic so why not find a way to use it? 2UAC/5 and 1PPC make for decent mid to long punch and the UAC's will put out decent dakka for a little while (got 7 kills in my first game in Protector so yeah I like it). 0 crit spaces left so it's not leaving any "wasted" space. Often mechs same weight or lower will look away or run (aside from some TWolves).

ON1-K:
It's my "You must be strong" version. He's the AC/20 packing, 4 mediums in addition, 40 pin-point damage brawler. I did have SRM's in place of the LRM's but it did hurt at times, on the bigger maps usually, when I couldn't contribute to the longer range snipe/LRM fest. I'd stand around waiting or I could Leroy Jenkins lead a rush but usually would be cut in half or brought down before I could close the distance. 2 LRM5 allows this guy to contribute at range and can make mechs duck for cover when rushing cause they get the incoming missile warning but they have no idea how many LRM's are incoming.

I haven't got my ON1-VA yet but this is what I'm planning:
So I decided I didn't want do another LRM boat, I have a couple Pults for that. Decided I'd try a Gauss rifle and dual ER LL with the Advanced Zoom for 1337 AWP sniper mode and try an Orion with an XL for a little added punch. Not sure if I'll keep the 2xSRM6 or change that up for some other SRM combo. Hoping the 33 damage from the Gauss and ERLL's performs well at range and in close the Gauss and SRM6's for brawling without overheating (in theory).

And to the OP's post I think someone already mentioned the Streaks may not be optimal cause you won't be chasing any lights and if they rush you then you use the AC/20 and mediums to make them go away. If they stick around then they are either leet and want to bring you down or stupid. I'd trade the Streaks, BAP, .5 ton AC ammo for quad SRM4 with 2 tons ammo for a bigger alpha and general punch. Also need a bit more armor on the back IMHO.

If you really want to give someone a rough day run a VA with 2 srm 6's, 2 srm 4's, an ac20, 2 mL, and a std 300. This thing can wreck face.
