Playing against your dev team in house is OK to test individual features but every once and a while you have to go out and smell the flowers.
Dear Devs,
Play your game on live servers.
Thanks.

Sean Lang is a contractor and not a dev. He's part of NGNG which helps put together a lot of the media PGI releases.
I see actual devs occasionally though. Karl Berg especially is VERY active. Russ plays somewhat often as well.

That said, I do see the devs out on the field occasionally.

karl is on ALOT (look into 12 mans sometimes)
Alex - purty (<-- southern word) damn good pilot
I have seen Niko a few times, Russ at least once a week and some IGP folks too
So yes they do play in the same servers you and i play on as well as their 'other builds".
I am happy to see them on our servers, but having them on their "other builds" insures that they are working on 'stuff'.
IF I had to choose, I would pick for them to be on the other builds working on stuff with the exceptions being when the have some community event, or if the Devs formed a 12 man and ran in the groups queue for a night or 2.
Short answer, They DO play in the live server(s).

Alex is on Regularly and I saw Paul on last night. I saw Russ on about 3 weeks ago in one of my matches.

They are still around, they just don't play under their PGI accounts.
Just two nights ago for example, there was a guy running around in match with an 8-10 ms ping time. Only way you get that sort of ping is if you have a direct connection to the servers so I guarentee he was a PGI employee despite being named waki waki (or something like that) and not having a PGI tag.
