A lot of the suggestions are awesome -- I can't think of much to add. It'll be interesting to see what the inside of other player's mechs look like in spectator mode, though.

I mean, it's less vanity and more immersion, but could the display panels in the cockpit have some bearing on our mech's actual state (i.e., a heatsink display that actually shows the status of your heatsinks)? It isn't something that would be practical to use, but it would be a nice detail to have. And who knows, if it is particularly helpful, maybe it would be worth the half-second it takes to hit control and glance over at it.

Cup holder, photo of loved ones, air freshener, user manuals, pinup girl/boy stickers, calendar, tick marks indicating number of kills scratched/inked onto the dash, teddy bear, hand-knit cap, colored bit or ribbon to remind you of whatever.

Stuff to personalize One´s Cockpit would be nice because that would make the mech special to you. I´d like that. Would propably make it easier to feel something for that special build.

Do you have any idea how hot those cockpits get? They'd probably have jugs to dump over themselves.

Maybe customizable drinks, or choose from a selection of period appropriate things.

Oh and Pin-up girls. Because... Duh. Choose-your-own-photo frames would also be fantastic.

And in case nobody has said it yet: You guys are COMPLETELY AWESOME for even making this topic. I've been fantasizing about cockpit details like these since the MW2 days. Make it customizable and you have instant win, and serious upsell/microtransaction opportunities. This is money. Good job!
