The one thing that every proper mechwarrior game cockpits needs is a huge bright yellow sign that says "PENDING".

The 'stuff' in the cockpit could change based on the model mech and the house/clan/merc unit

As in:
A Hunchback is not likely to have room for a jump-seat
And a House mech is much less likely than a Merc's mech to have a tequila bottle under said jump-seat, same for the pair of panty's and a bra hanging off the jump-seat.

I figure when the clans come, their cockpits will be pretty tidy.

oh, and the controls should look worn (or maybe look more worn as a pilot's experience increases).

I like the rear view, but that might be beyond the scope of the request.

Perhaps this can be used as a potential product placement opportunity (revenue opportunity for PGI). Have liquor companies, beer companies, soft drink companies pay PGI for having their products made available to the player base. The idea could be expanded to most other types of companies as well.

The idea would obviously have to be thought out a little bit more but it could be lucrative with proper negotiation, planning and implementation .
