Stuck on terrain is indeed a terrible bug especially for assaults, but it affects all assaults and not in particular dire whales.

So whats the point?

Stuck on terrain is probably the biggest issue for non JJ mechs, which is around half. 90% of the time you can unstick yourself with JJs, but if you don't have them, you're staying stuck.

as a DW fan i can sympathize but not agree.

you just need to learn where to step...

it is the fiercest mech in game. ive broken my own damage records with it, twice!
unless team work is really bad i will always do good in it.

also, bare in mind that until you get them elited, they are terrible. so just hang in there, elite them and you will do great!

let me know if you want pics as proof.

edit:
also, if you want killer DW builds, join the Robinson Rangers Brigade.

Is the Dire your first 100t mech?
The obstractions are not new...he can go the same ways my Atlas can go.
So what? Yes he is not god mode. When brawlers or Sniper shoot at you..you take damage. As an Atlas would do. So what?

Learn the mech. He is strong enough as he is.

Alright, lets stick our heads in the sand and pretend it doesn't exist. I will put my blinders back on and go back to playing. There is no issue, sorry I mentioned it.....

i am sorry to be the one to say this but did it ever come up as an idea your just bad at the game?
this thing is a beast and the only mech i have a bit of fear to go one on one with out the right mech... so yeah i am sorry but you just need to learn to play

Hill Climbing for assaults definitely needs to be fixed. Getting slowed down to a grinding halt by a tiny pebble still happens way more often than it should. And trying to get uphill in an assault mech is an awful experience.

Stupid DireWhales can't move off the spawn point fast enough.
Stupid teammates leaving DireWhales behind to be eaten by lights.
All in all ... just another day of PUGs.

When people will learn to work as a team in a team-based game you'll realize that DireWolf is a perfectly balanced mech.

This mech cost me 55 dollars and yes it is a Dire Wolf and it has a lot of capability for firepower....

However this mech is the slowest most clunky piece of garbage ever created.

You will be a sitting duck 95% of the time when using this mech.

It regularly gets STUCK ON TERRAIN which renders it UNABLE TO MOVE AT ALL.....

That combined with a painfully slow 48.6kph that cannot be changed at all, make this an extremely frustrating experience.

PGI, I would politely ask that you PLEASE take a look at this mech and FIX IT!!!

It should not be so slow, make it go 55kph, and it SHOULD NOT get stuck on Terrain constantly!

It will get stuck on any number of things, hidden obstacles in terrain that will grab your foot and keep you there. You will end up bumbling around slow as hell trying to break out of it, meanwhile you are getting shot by 12 people at the same time.

It is often times an embarrassing experience to be in a Dire Wolf.

Please fix this PGI, just please fix it... make it so it can easily climb mountains and terrain, stop it from getting stuck on everything, and raise its speed to 55kph.

I notice this to after having mastered both the Dire and the Warhawk that these two mechs seem to be sticky; back up to a wall and then move forward again, and it feels like I am pealing myself off the wall.

Forget it if you happen to hit a corner wrong too; it's like forcing your way through the side of the building, and stop turn, and try and to get off it is horribad.

So, yeah, not sure if it is the arms, the way the legs are positioned or what, but these mechs are spiderman's hands.

I think pgi should give you the summoner for free and show you how bad it can really get ;)

I am working on it now, and yea, I am starting to notice it with that mech too. What's strange, is after mastering/eliting some 60 IS mechs, I do not recall this sticky feeling with any of them so pronouncely.

Before a really nasty loosing streak, I was rocking a near 2:1 W/L ratio and 5:1 kdr. I'm at the point where the MM throws 11 lobotmites at me most matches and I have to pull out several hundred damage and 5+ kills to win a match....and I do it nearly twice as often as I lose....

...the DW is absolutely devastating in the right hands. If you suck, its brutally unforgiving. There isn't much middle ground with the DW.

If you are piloting the Dire Wolf, the first thing you should type before the match starts in the solo queue is the following...

"I need a wing-man!"

Last battle I had in the thing, I picked up a Stormcrow to watch my back, and it was glorious.

It may not be something I do, but two of my best games ever were in a DWF, with a random teammate winging for me. We pulled off some great flanking maneuvers! (Yes, flanking in a Direwhale.....)

also you may want to try using all of the omni pods that increase mobilty (prime & A CTs) (prime RT) and the right arm that has an actuator, and utilize a big ballistic in the left arm.

Also are you sure you arent backing into team mates, and not terrain? I havent had ANY problems moving over terrain n my DWs although I do use Hillclimb 100% of the time so you may want to give that a shot aswell.

And another tip! Play Assult only with your DW less lights than conquest, and its more static than skirmish.

I run the Direwolf almost exclusively..

a few points:

1) It is not forgiving of mistakes. Get caught out in the open and narc'd and you are dead 95% of the time
2) It is slow.. deal with it. Don't try to run it like a fast assault you are just gonna be mad.
3) Only terrain I have issues on is climbing steep hills and the damn lava rivers in Terra Therma... legs always get stuck and I have to back out the same way I came in to get unstuck. This is a terrain issue and not a mech issue. (You sink in the lava river so it is a ledge and not an incline from what I have noticed)
4) Alone in a pug match it is a challenge and can go either way but in a group with some planning... it is a devastating ball of destructive terror!!!

Note: I do not run the meta build of dual guass/dual PPC on any of my variants.

I notice people who complain the Direwolf sucks tend to have a few of the same issues:

a) They try to run it like an IS assault with a faster engine or like a heavy
:) They have horrible load-outs
c) Try to use the Direwolf as the spearhead of an attack when really it is a clean-up mech. Let the heavies start the brawl then come in after and pummel everything while they are distracted. Works every time.

Dire Wolf is a difficult mech to play (especially in the solo queue), despite its insane payload potential.

While its firepower is virtually unmatched, piloting it effectively takes patience, skill and a good bit of help from your team.

I suggest to ALWAYS have Hill Climb module installed; it will help mitigate the whale's difficulty with clearing bumps in the terrain, which makes it a little easier to maneuver with.
