Same for me, only IS vs Clan today. Pure slaughter.

It's not just Clan V. IS... I had a Clan V Clan Game, and an IS V IS game... this is... interesting.

Frankly, I don't care about the balance at all. I'm not worried about the fairness, since this is clearly the sort of thing they want to and may well need to test.

I am extremely dismayed that such a test would begin without any notice either on the forums or in the game loader.

This is a bad move, PGI. Doing things like this without warning indicates a lack of caring about the playerbase and will lead to players who don't trust you to let them know what you're doing, nevermind what you're thinking of doing.

Whoever had the brilliant idea to try this without saying anything, you have screwed up. You have pulled exactly the sort of nonsense that crippled City of Heroes during the Issue 10 update, a sort of 'well, let's just do this without saying anything beforehand' that kills games and cripples the enthusiasm of the playerbase.

To reiterate: Testing things in the live mode of your game without warning anyone beforehand is a terrible idea and while it may lead to important information it will also lead to many bad feelings on the part of your players.

Warning the players is not difficult to do. This could have easily been a simple event that pilots would be enthusiastic to try, and instead it's a blindside that has me at least questioning what happened to PGI's recent developments towards communicating with its players.

Same here, IS vs Clans and the best IS managed was a 12-4 by some extreme stupidity on the Clan side. Usually its 12-1 or 12-0. Even if you have all the cool stuff, rushing 4 clan mechs into a full IS team still gets you beaten up.

I never said that I'm good and there is only so much you can do in a medium versus 8 madcats storming at you.
My SH can break 500 quite regularly, but its annoying to see the massive clan stacks, it makes for horrible games.
Clans are just extremely forgiving to use versus IS mediums and heavys.

Horrible? Ok I don't pilot a Medium, My reflexes are old, but I have seen that scene for a few years now (minus the Timber Wolves), I have been waiting for the Clans to get her, I have been waiting for the boogieman to show up. I have been waiting to play against them and to figure out how to beat them back to Strana Mechty! So what is to much for you, is the game I have been patiently waiting for! :P :P

Three matches so far, three losses for me (IS). 12-3, 12-0, 12-1.

Why so passionate? Its not CW, its Not MMO, its just death matches. Interesting tweaks are interesting, sorry if the ol W/L takes a hit, but this affects nothing other than a few hours of your life. I don't even get to try, I'm jealous of your pain.

There is something strange about it: Normally stumps are really super annoying...but when it's IS vs Clan, there is some sort of motivation, that I really, really, really want to win...it's strangly quite fun.

Notice that most of the IS players are LNW while most of the clan players have a faction - that's a general indicator I see for fairly casual / new players (of which I am one) compared to more experienced players. So it's clanners that paid up stomping new players / the dirty poors. Nice game guys

Perhaps. But as a counterpoint, announcing to a population that their behaviors are being monitored will alter the monitored behaviors. If PGI needed absolute, true metrics that can only be obtained on a live server through monitoring true live PUG play, then this might be the way to go.

Not saying toes won't be stepped on, but y'know... it is just a game. And Clans vs IS is what they've been preaching as a long-term goal for some time now.

Would it help to think of this as Community Warfare version 0?

And most were House Affiliated! That is going to bug me if they get to use Clan Tech in CW!

While I guess that would be true, company vs binary still isn't fair to IS if the average weight per mech is even.

It's not, but it would be a good benchmark. I think maybe tweaking the 3/3/2/2 I mentioned earlier would also help balance the match. Just my thoughts.

as the title says

and guess whos winning....mainly that is

Hurray ! CW is comming, factions are important now.
Time to switch to a clan faction so I'm on the side with most of the Omnis*. :P

I guess, I select Smoke Jaguar, because they are famous in Battletech Lore for butchering IS Troops.

*No, Omnis are not OP.
  • They just survie despite their XL Engines the destruction of one side torso,
  • they have zero ton CASE in locations there an IS Mech can't mount CASE,
  • their Double Heatsinks need only 33% less space
  • their Medium Lasers (one or two tons) are as good as a IS Large Laser (five tons)
  • and their ER-PPC does 2x 2,5 points splash damage while being only one ton lighter than the IS ER PPC (perfect for an additional heat sink)

But remember guys, clans are balanced.(sarcasm)

Seriously, it irritated me to know end when I saw all these guys who spent $240 on Clan mechs try to claim they were "balanced" that first week or two. I hope now people see they are not. I'm not saying PGI didn't get it close to the mark on their first try, but any competent player saw within the first few days how Clan mechs were usually the better option for any marginally decent pilot.

I'm glad the community seems to finally be coming around to the idea that the Clan mechs are probably a bit too good at the moment.

House Lone Wolf is an important and respected faction in Battletech Lore.

It was a good desicion of PGI to put in in the game instead of forcing a new player to choose a House. :P
If CW would have been in MWO since Open Beta, House Lone Wolf would be controlling most of the Inner Sphere by now

I'm curious, when people keep saying "Clans had less mechs", they do realize that the current Clan weapons are nerfed right?

IS seems to have a ton of bads playing, while most of the good players bought Clan mechs.
