Last several matches in public / non-group dropping seemed to be all IS vs Clan. Did something get turned on in matchmaker?

This functionality has been in the matchmaker for a few weeks now. They ran a similar test like 2 weeks ago. They're probably using the numbers to see if clans or IS are OP/UP, and how well they'll fare against each other in Community Warfare matches.

With exactly 1 viable light build and only a handful of decent mediums, plus the two most popular and iconic Clan 'Mechs being at the upper end of the Heavy and Assault range, I can't imagine this will provide much useful data.

I'm loving the hell out of this.

Keep in mind that all the "new players" (aka: noobs) that joined prior to this patch weren't given lower Elo scores...they were grandfathered into the mid-range.

All the Trial Mechs, the ones the noobs can use for free, are IS mechs. That means the IS teams are saddled with them. Add to that the fact that noobs don't have modules that are worth anything...let alone knowing how to use Arty/Air strikes...it puts them at a SERIOUS disadvantage.

I'm loving this. It's doubled my cbill productivity. Keep up the good work, PGI. In fact, get rid of this whole "new players get lower Elo scores" nonsense. We, the veterans, should have to carry them until they learn...ESPECIALLY if you keep the IS/Clan separation.

Mwahahaha. Bring on the parade of mouthbreathers.

You seem happy that this will cause people to leave the game??? This confuses me.

I'm sure it's temporary. I do want in though, for science.

Stupid work.

I just got done watching SideStrafe playing MWO on twitch, and Daeron/Bombadil from No Guts No Galaxy (who sort of works as a contractor for PGI) was on trying to answer questions from an irrate player who doesn't like the game balance, or the fact he cannot buy a clan mech.

Simply put the matchmaking was deliberately set to IS vs Clan for about 3 hours today to play test the Community Warfare combat.

Bombadil didn't give out any facts, but the jist of it was that the Clans are indeed OP, and will probably be getting a nerf.

I think the players were just not happy beta testing without being aware of it and so on, but they did run the test while most people in the USA were at work in the off peak hours to minimize the fuss it would naturally cause.

... what? They actually CAN do this? Well, I retract lots of my previous statements then. Also, awesome. Pity this didn't last longer. :P
