When buying Mechs from the 'Shop', all you get is the Mech name and price in Cbills etc. Is there a way to actually VIEW the mech and what spec it is before buying. You see four versions of the Hunchback for arguments sake with different name tags BK-4SP HBK-4J HBK-4H etc but not actually how they are armed, what equipment etc.

Can that be fixed?

Yes. If you go to the Mechlab and click the filter on top -> change it from Owned to Purchaseable.
Now you have the full store and can use the "Mech Details" button to see everything, or just mouse over for the quick summary.

Go to the Mech Lab, select the filter "purchasable" (it is usually set to owned). Hover your mouse over the mech you want to view to get a brief rundown, click "Mech Details" in the lower right to get a better idea of how it is equipped.
