Is anyone else sort of on autopilot with regards to MWO, at this point?
I have tried to support PGI as much as possible and, not being able to see the future, I have to admit that I've been surprised a few times by what has come out since February, but it just seems, lately, like I'm finding myself both wanting to be here, and not, wanting to play the game, and not.
Is anyone else caught in that sort of lethargy? If anyone else is, let's see if we can figure out how to fix that.

I'm on my MWO hiatus right now, mostly because 1) life and stuff 2) played a bit too much MWO since this year and needs to make time to catch up with my Steam catalog (Steam sales are serious biz) 3) and most importantly, the sheer incompetence of pugs. I know it's because ELO is "working as intended" - and as a result while my KDR is 2.22 but my WLR is basically 1, but still it does not make pugging any more pleasurable.
So I'm taking a little break. Good thing is MWO support are pretty sweet and agreed to add all my wasted premium time back when I come back.

Kay, I think I understand completely what you're talking about. I, however, find myself not having as much fun playing as I used to. It is a combination of many things, most especially the gauss nerf. I mostly am reminiscing about what it was like playing it last summer and wishing I'd played more back then (when I was having a ton of fun). Most of the MC I bought was back then, too, because I'm finding less and less reason to buy it lately. :\

I can't honestly put my finger on what my problem is. Perhaps it comes in parts, instead of being a single thing; a good portion of it is what PGI has been doing, of late; I guess I'm confused; since February, I believe PGI have been doing a lot of good things, but then we get this past Tuesday's trouble. Another part may be that I'm getting bored with the things that are good. Perhaps a third portion is that we're waiting for so long to get Association. Finally, life has been very troubling over these past several months, and that might be dragging me down a bit.
I'm hoping this is something short-term, that real-life will calm down and stabilize, the game will get a little more exciting, giving us all something more to do. I think that's it, in a nutshell.

I have had times in the past where I have been this way,and its probably time for you to take a break. Play another game for a month or two and 1 they will probably have some improvement (phase 1 CW is supposed to be next month) and 2 you will be less tired of the game.

I't simple. Game's aging.
I mean, most of us coming from beta stage have probably already known everything that is to know about MWO - weapon data, maps and general feels of each and every 'mech. I don't run my Hunchbacks anymore, because I've been use them for so long I know everything they could do, and if you throw me into the field with one I could probably beat an Assault with it. When we know everything there is to know - especially when the core gamers, BattleTech fans, are mostly 30-40 and entered the game early during Founder period - then the game has only so much to offer after two years.
I've seen at least two niche-market F2P games die like that. Super Monday Night Combat is an incredibly fun - and arguably, the only - shooter-MOBA, but the dev failed to promote the game and communicate that the game is a MOBA, and it very soon sunk out of people's view. Tribes: Ascend was "alive" for almost exactly two years, but due to the dev not promoting the game as an e-sport, it also died.
There are multiple ways to keep F2P engaging. WOW had regular releases of PvE expansions and a very rigid social system. EVE is, well, EVE, the one and only space-sim. Also they both have subscriptions. WoT/WT are easy to learn but hard to understand, and its leveling system is inherently unfair to newbies/freebies anyway. Hundreds of ghetto-F2P shooters are there because they barely cost anything to run for both ends.
In the case of MWO, I so, SO wish that the game had PvE and they could release like 10-mission packs for like 2000MC, but I do understand their own concerns. They used nostalgia card with the release of Clans in terms of aesthetics, and I'd say the last big thing they could do is CW that helps creating a social system as well as increasing competition. Then I would happily see MWO die and give PGI a B-, and hope they could make another MW game with the money they have.

Yes, I'm still trying to believe. New maps, new 'Mechs, and hopefully the attack/defend game mode will come very soon after the Merc Unit Creation module, which I still believe will be day-after-tomorrow or the Tuesday following. I would still love to see how they're adjusting the 'Mech and pilot trees, what they will finally come up with, as well.
I know the game is aging, it's old, but I am improving, little-by-little, and that might be enough to fight for. One other thing I thought of, just this morning, as to why I've become lethargic in this game, is that I'm working to master my BattleMaster's, and that's ALWAYS a trying time because, until you actually do so, with any 'Mech, you're not getting the full benefit out of the virtual machine.

I also have never played any other PvP games besides this. I don't like them, to be honest, because I can't play consistently enough to get really good and so many others out there can. ELO doesn't seem to do a very good job putting me up against opponents I might have a chance of defeating. (I play with some guys who are frequently a lot better than me.) I would love it if this game had more PvE to it, especially if it were team coop against AI opponents. That would be awesomely terrible for my sleep schedule, I think. I can't quite seem to give up on the game altogether, but I'm getting closer every patch. Sad.

Nah, this isn't the ONLY PvP game I've ever played, I've played a few others, this is just the only one I can stand playing PvP, even if I still suck at it, hehe.
Let's see what CW Phase One does to help, if anything?
