It does help, to be sure. But when you can't reliably play at the same time as other players, it's much harder. I'll be able to play with a group regularly for a week. This week, for example, I've had a blast with an awesome group of guys and got lots of group games in. Next week, though, I'll be at work during the time they're awake and at home. I'll be surprised if I can get one game in with any of them.

Never done 24/7 shift work before, have you?

Not 24/7 shift work, but I worked overnight for 8 years straight. Our group has had folks overseas and on overnights, so we often had someone on at almost any time of day. That's part of why a good public server (like the Steiner Hub, or a few other major hubs) can be useful

That said, overnights are going to be problematic due to a large dip in the player base anyway, and many of the player base being online would be non-english speakers primarily.

SANDPIT(your posts are REALLY hard to read. Do you know how to quote? It will make your posts much easier to read through if you use than when you want to respond directly to someone's post. Just pick the post you're wanting to reply to and hit the "Quote" button)

Blame PGI they are so lazy they don't even fix there forums so users can use the functions like the Quote button? As a user and consumer running WIN8.1 and IE11 why should I have to install another browser to use there crappy forums?Answer is I should not have to and they should be catering to the users needs and fix there dam forums to work with WIN8.1 and IE11.

type this [ quote ] insert quote here [ /quote ] only without spaces between the brackets.

I ran 6 matches as a PUG Company commander yesterday and we had 6 victories. I just suggested where to set up and most of the time the team followed. Said when to wait and when to push. Granted i died in 2 of those 6 matches. But with a little leadership PUGS sometimes can work. I don't claim to had made the teams win purely on my leadership and damage output. There were skilled players as well that did more kills and damage. But we moved together!

Team drops = 2 big groups hugging each side of the hill lobbing rockets at the others = boring!

Singel drop is more chaotic but also more fun. Even if I feel sorry killing some newbs in her trial mech.

I dropped in the solo queue yesterday.

My 11 team mates all died within the first 3 minutes ... leaving me in the Spider that I'm trying to level, facing 12 undamaged enemies solo.

I thought Elo meant I would be dropping with pilots of approximately the same skill level as me...?

Nope once you pass median it actively punishes you, its an average, so if you are high, you get a low, usually a straight member of the steeringwheel underhive.

Solo players in the group queue, it's all fun and games until you get 6 on your team.
Groups + Solo do not mix well. Haven't we learned this over the past 3 years?

Heh

Watching team after team camp themselves to death gets frigging old.

I never had an issue with groups in the queue. You got as many as your faced, and if people wouldn't be anti-social neckbeards they could group too.

Its a TEAM based deathmatch shooter, there is no single player, stop treating it like there is.

As many have said there is no reason you cant get on one of the many teamspeak servers and find a group. Take the 10 minutes to download and setup teamspeak. Then add all the free servers into TS bookmarks. Next start visiting the servers and playing games and making friends. See easy problem solved :P

Only if you stop pretending that players on VOIP with complimentary mech builds are on equal footing with a player in a random build with no VOIP.
Please keep pugs out of the group queue. I don't want the game decided by who got more of them.

I made no such claim, I said you GOT as many groups (as in on your side) as you faced (that would be the enemy)
Get it?
Got it?
Good.

Until recently PGI took a team based game and basically punished you for being in a team...surprise. Most units broke apart because any number between 4 and 11 online and you actually COULDN'T play together without exploiting. So go compare Phoenix sales and Clan sales and see how that worked out.

The "social" support in this game is a travesty, and TWO AND A HALF years out of beta there is no excuse.

I get completely Abandoned LESS in solo play lately, compared the group option filling the rest of a group drop, setting up with team, and then watching them run like rabbits at the first sign of a Mech.

It's probably because i'm running an ECM mech more lately, so the solo guys like the ECM cover maybe.

If you just work overnight, its comparatively easy: you find a group that plays in a convenient time. I also did straight overnight work for years, and as a result I just played with EU/AU's folks a lot.

Try when you work overnights, days and evenings basically randomly. You don't have a time you can regularly play at.

Again, adding solos to group queue makes it anything but group queue, and well, you may as well not have both then. You're not going to have helpful coordinated play just by tagging along with other groups. YOU need to be part of a, or the, group.

The issue with dividing this was the way how solos got scewred by experinced palyer grouping up. btu two scrubs grouping up in the solo queue would be less of a problem than an experienced or even MLG player. The whole issue witth group/queue queues is that it does not really have the effect it should. Nwewbies are lost in the group queue, and veterans are broed in the solo queue as long as they are not those, "I enjoy stomping newbies" kind of characters. But yet the queues should be able to grant veterans soloing up into group queue, and scrubs or low elo players to groupdrop in the soloqueue.

So lets say we rework this all to elo queues, and not groupqueues.

Lets say we have

a low elo bracket
mid elo bracket
high elo bracket.

The game tries to create matches withing the bracket, no matter if grouped or not.
Why when a group takes advantage too much, like a low elo grp playing in the low elo bracket, then it would elo up. and by this exceed the low elo bracket.
The elo brackets would also allow elo players in their bracket to grp mix with solo low elos. At that low elo, it hardly matters if group or not. they are probably not even using VoIP and such.

When someone like OP is high elo, then he would still grant the possibility to paly with people amongst his skills. But dropping high elo's solo in a pug of solos newbies, is just not fun.

Someone solo queueing, can also be ocossionally be put into one elo below him. this would in a bit kind also transfer skills. the lower elo player can lern from him, but may suffer. But since this happens only occosuionally it wouldn't be a permanent issue.

In the solo queue, I am a bit too much of a threat, and I am not even a pro player. but with the current friends i regularly paly, we can not have fun togethr in the gorupqueue, because for my lower skilled friends, this is overkill.

there is now a strange skillgap between solo and group which feels like a big part of the playerbase now has to decide going solo or not to play. I recently feel like not having a right place in the game. Also I don't feel like the soloqueue is taking elo into account. Does it? or have they rmoved that?

seriously?

you completely ignored the simplistic solution i've given you

If you REALLY want to improve that part of teh game, you have the ability to do it. It's not QUITE as convenient as simply clicking play now, but it's far from convoluted

There was also supposed to be a limit of 3/3/3/3. Things don't seem to work as intended.

Yeah they couldn't launch games.

Much like we said when people floated the idea years ago.
