if i want to make a support mech i would go for the Trebuchet since it can actually move and it also has a variant with jump jets.

The speed of the Trench makes for an interesting FS mech. tThe 5S variant that swaps out the LRMs for SRMs is a deadly infighter if it can pack on another ton or two of armor.

Catapult is an ideal support 'mech as it is better armour then the Trebuchet and faster then the Stalker. The Trebuchet is a close second though. The Stalker is just an assault 'mech with a nice weapon load out.

the catapult(even though the trench bucket is faster, the catapult has a special place in my heart<3) or possibly the stalker.

Catapult.

While the Trebuchet appears at first to have the same LRM firepower as a Catapult, I would quickly choose the Catapult because it has much more potential than the Treb. As I recall, the Treb has less ammo than the Catapult, and of course, less armor. It is a much more dependable, because it doesn't disintegrate so quickly if it gets engaged at close range. It has enough armor to take hits while its buddies take out the light/medium that got too close.

Further, the Catapult has 15 more tons to customize with. Removing the jumpjets will give it enough space for LRM 20's, Artemis, or whatever other firepower upgrades you might want, in addition to the extra MLas and armor it already has in excess of the Trebuchet. Besides, the Catapult looks awesome.

I don't really consider the Stalker to be a support 'mech in the same way as Catapult and Treb.

Catapult if you want more damage output and armor; Trebuchet if you want more mobility and speed.

I think I'll go with the Catapult ... Trenchies don't last long when ambushed or snuck up upon.

Well I went with founders Catapult. My mech of choice will be Stalker, and I'll probably drive a trenchbucket for some medium variety.

Stalker. Because the more ammo you can pack into one mech, the more crit spots it has. Wait....that doesn't sound like a good reason.

I prefer the Stalker, you have long range damage with LRMs, Medium range with LBLs, and Short range with MBLs and SRMs. The variety of combat that the Stalker can perform is great, not to mention when you run out of LRMs/SRMs you still have 4 MBLs and 2 LBLs to use without ammo.

I have to admit the stalker is a tempting option but I just assume that once they are spotted it's game over can't run in that thing

Catapult for me, that's why it was my founder's choice. I'll probably get a Trebuchet for my garage at it seems like the next best thing to an Arbalest, but Arbalests won't be around until 3077.
