Love you my little hunch <3

(yes this is a brag thread)

Nice!

I gotta say, haven't run my 4G yet, but that internal structure boost seems to have made the AC20 MUCH tougher than before. I was dueling a couple HBKs earlier, and neither lost their AC til they lost the torso.

and yeah, IS ACs are great clan busters, period.

Cheers.

Omnimechs can't use HA, though. Also, the Cute Fox wasn't even durable for its class, because it had 8 points of CT armor stock...ouch.

That carry Direwolf in the first pic. Clanners are still ahead.

Yea but the put the AC20 cent behind a paywall....AC20 hawk is meh, I guess the AC20 blackjack is ok. Hunchie would be my meta of choice.

I honestly do better in my CN9-A than I usually do in my YLW, that 3ASRM6 2ML zombie just eats up damage and gets right into the nice gooey center of most mechs now that SRMs are worth a damn.

YLW's arm is just so fragile, so bringing an XL is a must for the speed and ammo, and with the clantech if you get glanced at the wrong way you lose your side torso....

Obviously if the AC/20 is effective in MWO's current battlefield it is OP and needs a renerf. Perhaps all ACs need further nerfage.

All ACs should become clan burst mode...then maybe Clan ACs wont look so horrid in comparison..

Speaking of HA, it would/should be restricted to mechs that were intended to be really really tough for their size. Mechs like the Lunchback, Thunderbutt, Fatlas, Urbie, etc...

Theres no need to restrict it to certain mechs. Hardened Armor could just have a 10% speed penalty and prevent the use of jumpjets. That would be enough of a tradeoff, especially if armorpiercing ammo existed as an alternate ammo type to counter hardened armor.

I suspect thats coming since the PPC/Gauss nerf is likely to make the AC20 more popular.

They should add hardened armor and armor piercing rounds together.

They should add a "physical armor" at first place...

Armor-Piercing. ;)

Although their TT implementation would be annoying as all hell, because they were designed specifically to farm TACs.

Would be nice. Less overal damage than standard AC-shell but 30-40% more chance to do critical inner damage.

They not looking so "badazz" it's just that critical damage convertation chance they got so OP due burst mode.

CN9-YLW vs HBK-4G is an interesting comparison and I have piloted both extensively in the long long ago before the Clans arrived.

YLW
+ Zombies like a pro with the 2 CT slots
+ Comes with equipped with a shield (left arm)
+ Has excellent vertical traverse on the AC20
+ Can be amped up with an XL for a silly fast AC20
- Convergence used to be a *****

4G
+ Carries an extra laser
+ The hunch is a little tougher than the Cent's arm
+ AC20 shoots from a high position so you can make better use of waist cover

Overall I prefer the YLW primarily because you can utilise the whole left hand side of your body as a shield. Doing the same with the HBK tends to lose you a laser and it is very hard to protect that hunch. Also while I don't typically run an XL the option to do it in the YLW is a nice one and if I were playing now something I'd look at as speed=life when dealing with Clan weapons. I can also not overstate how useful the additional vertical traverse is on the YLW arm. You can pull some nice ambushes in spots and really abuse certain types of mech if you can get some vertical displacement over them (Atlas being a good example if they are stacking weapons in their torso).

Nope. A/C20 has a slow fire rate and limited range. Matter of fact, it is a bit tricky to get in close now with the Clan's extra range weapons. The A/C20 is in a good place. Matter of fact, all IS ballistics are in a good place which leads me too...

The A/Cs are the only saving grace the IS mechs have right now. I might have agreed with you Pre-Clan invasion, but with the superiority of the Clans as is, NOPE. The IS needs a good weapon type up it's sleeve to compete with the wicked range advantage of the clan's weapons (especially that nice ERMLaser).

This is pretty much neutralized by the fact that the hunch can be hit from pretty much any ankle. If you close your eyes and just shoot into the general direction of a HBK, chances are high you will hit the hunch.(exaggerating a bit... but just a bit)

AC/40 Jager is also still effective. Very effective. The mini-boom (2x AC/10) is also quite good, especially on the Catapult with its superior side torso hit-boxes.

tl;dr: big ACs are still effective. Was there ever any doubt?

Random screenshots prove everything!
And even if they don't, there is an urgent need for them. You can't perform the daily humblebrag without them.

Nope. Same. Cause MWO is a arcade mech simulator not a tabletop game.
So... tt rules are not combined with MWO.

I see, the DWF aka one of the clanmechs, carried hard in here. but yeah, the Ac 20, especially in a hunchback may be a lot underestimated by people, or ignorred.
