As long as the 'surprise' isn't turning on the Gauss/PPC code they wrote, I'm probably gonna be OK with it.

Realistically though, I'm guessing the surprises are going to come from the list of little things the community voted on for them to fix before they ramped up CW. Remember, Niko put up that post with a bunch of little changes people had been asking for and we all got to vote on which ones we wanted most? I'm guessing it is some of those items.

WTB Shadow Hawk hero with 3 energy in the left shoulder and 3 ballistic in the right shoulder. Call it the "Double Deuce" or whatever.

Yep. Give it 2 PPCs + Gauss as stock weapons. Then nerf PPC + gauss combo two weeks later. ;)

Didn't they already do that with another hero mech? I have a distinct recollection of them nerfing a hero mech they'd just released. Was it the Oxide? Boar's Head? Jester? I forget.

Don't do that. It would be auto-PGI approved and then I would have to dub thee "FuPaul".

Seriously PGi...a f**king Warhorn for sale? Did you NOT get the feedback about Warhorns a month and 1/2 ago? The majority didn't want them. They aggravating and ruin immersion. AND NO MUTE BUTTON YET!!!!!
I could deal with the few...barely, but now they are going to be for sale and everywhere. You really don't like your custemers, but love their f**king money.Another cash grab from PGI at the expense of their customers.
Warhorns for sale PGI, and no mute button: GO F**K YOURSELVES!!!!

But it would be a good hero. ;) Certainly better than whatever a certain fansite would come up with...

While true, the certain other fansite doesn't attempt to min-max project anything... finding more fail than the last.

I don't want perfect meta... because your projected loadout is the Failbucket Trebuchet-7K with JJs.

I guess I'll be seeing Battlemasters for a week or two... and then they'll go back to obsolescence.

No way in hell is the Battlemaster Obsolete. It is my best mech by far. Currently running a 3.29 K/D with it topping my Timber Wolf by a pretty massive margin.

The reality is that we have too many players blinded by their preconceptions and assumptions and automatically think that it something doesn't fit within the meta it must be bad. Then others just follow this crowd blindly assuming they must be right.

I have had some outstanding games in my Bmaster's, I'm keeping them. Course I'm biased always loved it since TRO3025. Trick is differing the 1D and the 1G but I found a couple different builds that work for me.

It's sub-optimal. No way around it.

Doesn't mean you can't do well with it, I know the WubShee isn't a very good mech, but it can deal lots of damage quickly and I enjoy it.

Though, I certainly wouldn't recommend it to a new player.

Congrats to you, but that sounds more like you haven't figured out how to use the Timberwolf effectively.

Perception is kinda its own reality.

For instance, the Awesome was a bad mech generally speaking... prior to the CT buff (not entirely sure what it is now, but the Awesome trend has died down awfully quick any time the Awesome got a "buff", like the hitbox changes prior to that).

I rarely see Battlemasters fielded, and the same could be said for Highlanders (for different reasons altogether).

I like Quickdraws, and I don't pretend to think it's a good mech... but it's a whole lot of fun. The thing is that the rate of usage on certain mechs corresponds with popularity AND how powerful it is. So while a mech appears to be under served, there are many legitimate reasons why that is the case.

Trying to balance a Shadow Hawk around any Trashbucket variant is kind of silly because the Treb as a whole is regarded as one of the worst mediums (and mechs overall) in the entire game. All of the Trebbie variants need help in some way or another, even the 7K. That doesn't mean we need to gimp the Shad hero in a vain attempt to make the Treb look "less obsolete."

I'm just trying to balance the "Double Deuce" against the C-Bill variants of the Shadow Hawk itself for now. It would be a beast for sure, but now that SRMs actually like DO SOMETHING it wouldn't necessarily be the totally best. Given the current state of jets, I'd even be willing to give up my JJs for the hardpoints...I want to do weird things like 2 LL + 1 LBX (crap loadout I know, but still fun) or mount some dakka in the right side and pew pew in the left. I don't want the hero of my favorite mech EVAR to be gimped. :(

Believe it or not, the 7K is the only variant that is salvageable of the Trebuchets. It converts its biggest weakness (large arms) and uses them as shields (unless, you need that new missile arm to lurm). It doesn't have JJs, so it's mostly comparable to a Shadowhawk in a positive way.

We saw way back in the day that PGI doesn't actually understand their own mech construction mechanics, and thus continually creates garbage mech designs.

PGI, do you play your own game? (only Paul would jokingly raise his hand here)

Hellslinger. Myself and some others called that the Hero BattleMaster would be the Hellslinger.
