this was stated in devlog 6...

And after that we'll start to look at creating brand new maps on, based on existing asset sets, so, maybe it's another Alpine meets Forest Colony, or something, there's lots of ideas, I'm sure you guys will be providing your thoughts on the forums. I would like to start some sort of community-driven map, not necessarily creation at first, but maybe just even in the way of ideas, there's lots of ways you guys can help

Listen guys at pgi, your maps out are tired and boring. Make some new maps! hire some people, I been buying all kinds of stuff on my account for a year and all I wanna see is some new maps!!

I ask around and everyone says more maps. GET SOME MORE MAPS!

And not the tired lazy crap where you use map assets as stated above, make some real maps!

If you cant do the job I'm leaving your game, you have a great title and theme and are just dropping the ball with lazy slow and buggy releases. That's right I'm calling it like I see it, people getting stuck and the servers lagging like crazy. Stop padding your pockets with clan mechs and hire some damn mappers and more coders.

Now for the positive, your art team is doing a great job, the rest of you are bad and need to have your pay cut in half to make more staff budget.

If you can not do it why not let the community at least design and post them up for review, having three times as many maps would at least add some variety to where you are dropping.

Snail pace, make some maps...hire some people....finish up the work that needs done in a reasonable time frame then you can milk it all you want >.<

They have 2 more maps in the pipeline currently. They have also expressed interest in getting the community involved, but even that may not actually speed things up that much.

NAU!
Also - I am checking https://mwomercs.com/theplan every day - I see no updates/movement/increments on the numbers there.
"But Void - they're not updating it because(insert a random reason here, that most likely would be somehow connected with no time for "side tasks" )! R U NUTS?!?"
Aye. I am.
Also - my developer-mind-reading-device is malfunctioning - I can't have a clear idea(not to mention at all) what are the updates if they're not posted in the "official" place for that.
Or any place I can get to with 2 clicks.
Highligthed with a huge friggin red flashing colors and borders and sheet.

As I mentioned...
There aint any backlog in any sorts of organized structured manner where I can backtrack all the stuffs changed with the game since "launch" - you know, some tiiiiiny important stuff on the matter how the weapons work and how they were supose to work - stuff like that.
Also - core stuff like differences between engines(XL and a STD), heatsinks and all the "tough" stuff a newcommer has to get along, not "meh-I-am-kinda-okay" with, but perfect - if the named one has any intentions of surviving in the jungle out there.

Imagine that I am some dumb user(I barely convinced you didn't I? :( ) that would wish in the 21st century to do something silly as having all the FRIGGIN IMPORTANT info two/three clicks away from the starting page - what astonishing, new innovative, newsbraking concept huh?
That's been actually achieved on a milions and bilions of websites and products having(any) online features!

But to the topic:
New maps is a good start. Paired with a future tool that would allow either vote or creation or both for community made/generated/created maps that would add unbelievable gamplay variety for the game and would spare the devs so much headaches from feeling pushed to create new maps instead of doing something way more important that people are waiting for (years) months!
And thus... ending here ;)

if pgi let me make maps i would be able to churn out at least one a month. maybe even faster.

really if they let the community make maps they would have hundreds of maps in the first few weeks.

Not being trying to be cynical but, why would any business care about 2 people (or a small group of 100-500 people) making an ultimatum to boycott or closing their wallets unless they get what they want when there are 10's of thousands or more people that will continue support?

I mean, sure, you are making a statement and that is cool. But at best, it is falling on deaf ears.

Because it's fake. The numbers are made up. It's their halfassed attempt to 'communicate better with the community' in which they are failing.

"You will get your maps soon! We are going to make loads of new maps in quick succcession as soon as we finish working on map assets for different environments, 12 vs 12, Skirmish, UI 2.0, Clan Invasion... I mean, Community Warfare. So, uh, any minute now. We're working hard on a bunch of new maps, two maps, a mech factory map"

inb4 white knights. How many new maps did we get the last year, exactly?

You should be clammoring for more game modes, not more maps. More maps won't help stale gameplay feel any less stale.

you have a right to be cynical.

however I think the vast majority of players at this point at F2P players who aren't spending money on the game, those are definitely in the thousands... but the minority are the paying types...

obviously though the amount of clan mechs around makes my point highly arguable.

They will get alot of good ideas from the community but that in turn will confuse the hell out of them and subsequently slow them down even more.

There wont be jack for a long time if ever. This game is still a beta no matter how they sell it. It looks and plays rather unfinished, they got the mechs decent they look great, and fighting each other is fun but yeah it's pretty stale, new maps will help but we really need some innovative game types that the franchise has never seen, but we all know pgi just doesn't have the triple A funding and staff that really know their stuff.

While true (and supposedly they have a new game mode coming with a map specifically designed for it as one of the two upcoming maps)... I wouldn't trust PGI with a new game mode. Here's why:

PGI stopped the payout for accomplishing the objective on assault because people would leave the base undefended and a capture would begin on the small maps. The reasoning is because a match could end without a fight and was considered trolling. (This is why I think standing on the base is stupid; it should require attacking the base which requires a lot of over time damage. Also since when it accomplishing the mission trolling?).

Anyway, we then have a new problem. If you capture the base now, you troll BOTH teams. So if you wanted to piss people off, just capture the base. It stopped paying to "stop trolling", but ironically enough it now "trolls" even harder.

If you're a new player that decides "Objectives: Destroy All Enemy Mechs. Capture Base." Well of the two you're more likely to capture a base. ZOMG TURRETS! So if by some miracle you try and defeat the turrets and manage to limp over to the base and start capturing it, your own team is calling you names, insulting you, showing their ass-end. Why? Because there's no money in capturing the base.

So a game mode that once had players doing many roles including scouting, base capturing, base defending, front lines, support lines, interceptors, and just about everything in between... now has everyone getting to the middle of the map or the Hill in I-9 and camping.

...After this ***********, do you trust PGI to make a game mode with objectives?

I don't. Pretty soon on a Planetary Assault mode similar to Battlefield's Rush, we'll get to the end of the match and guess what? Capturing that base was trolling, no payout. You'd have gotten just as much for suicide at the beginning of the match.

The CW is going to be one big fat troll-fest.

The whole concept of assault mode is currently broken badly. We need more of a reason to capture anything, in fact i would hazard to say the mode is completely unfinished to be honest. If we are to capture something make it worthwhile and more interesting than a dumb little tracked vehichle or an oil well ffs. Build us actual bases to capture, parts/weapon depots to capture. You know walled fortresses we need to breach to gain access to the interior. The idea of capturing a green line outlining an oil well is laughable at best.

PGI has limited imaginations, lazy or not interested in putting forth a product worthy of the Mechwarrior namesake. Personally I am pretty disgusted with how things havwe and or are progressing in regards to game content. My wallet has been closed since I bought the lackluster Phoenix reinforcements and it will continue to remain closed until PGI delivers on promises... ;)
