They could have used the original Red Corsair(identity of Katrina Steiner during her adventure in thePeriphery, see Red Corsair (3004)). I could find any info on it on sarna but I know it was consider canon tale and was mentioned in the warrior books but I don;t know what mech she used.

Was that in a BLR? I don't think she was piloting a BLR.

There is not indication she piloted a BattleMaster then though is there?

Me, I'm glad its an actual proper Lore Hero, painjob is nice, the quirk is veeeeery interesting (both for this 'Mech and the future opportunities) but the fact it doesn't have two "guns", that the left arm is just a underslung barrel is a deal breaker (well, along with my stance of never buying heroes for chassis I've mastered out three times)

Wow, look at the size of those Missile hardpoints and they are limited to 10s.

Methinks it is time for community members to write our own history for these Heroes.

Or maybe to design them... FF Armor and Standard Internals? Sounds like it was designed by someone who was given a Mechlab with no number values... just symbols.

So, in other words, its heat performance will be more stable across the range of maps. An intriguing concept, to be sure. :)

Exactly. I thought it was a pretty cool concept myself. Hope you enjoy. : )

One high mount ppc and one low mount ppc.

*Flop*

The OCD in me is crying inside.

I wholeheartedly feel your pain and I don't understand the logic as to how it makes a difference in a tactical sense. Are the artists laughing at people like me (maybe you too) that pay attention to every aspect of weapons in this nature, and the aesthetics of it all? I spend a lot of time in the Mech Lab, and happily so, now that I've finally accepted that it's not going to change much /ugh. Anyhow, I'm detail oriented, ahhh heck okay I'm totally OCD about these type of things. For instance, the fact that the DireWolf arm energy slots always place one of my PPCs in a high/low fashion (1PPC w/ 3LPL in both arms) -- no matter what I do it, arrrrgghhhh!!! The damned thing always defaults back to a high low and it drives me bonkers, yeah... when I click save it should save what I see, dagnabbit! /endrant

That's one bad-ass looking skin.

It's a shame the 3xSSRM2s taking so much freaking unneeded extra space, a problem plaguing a lot of chassis, spoil the look.

I'm usually willing to wait and see how bad good hero mechs are before saying anything, but... Really?

Battlemaster is bad enough with the hardpoints on the others, but a brawler expected to use nothing but 2 PPCs and a couple of missiles for its main weapons? nope.jpeg

I'll stick with the battlemasters that actually have ballistics. Being slightly less affected by the map's heat is nowhere near enough to justify the loss of a gauss rifle on my battlemaster. Just curious, but does that quirk mean it's also less efficient on cold maps?

While I'm here, one last thing: You guys sure like your red/black mechs with fire on them.

Read the lore for it.

Also, to be honest. Using FF instead of endo is actually the smarter choice in most cases. Not in MW:O since we don't have R&R, and don't need to worry about how time consuming something is.

For example, switching a mech from standard to FF armor, would take a couple of weeks at least. Switching it from a standard structure to an Endo-Steel structure, would take several months, up to a year maybe. Since they have to strip EVERYTHING, and rebuild the ENTIRE skeleton from Endo-Steel.

Not to mention that FF is much cheaper than Endo-steel, as such making repairs less costly by using FF armor, insteaed of Endo-Steel.

Yes.

It receives only 50% of the debuff/buff that the map applies. (or flamers, or having heatsinks submerged in water)

Its a matter of faith... which guides the actions of more than just the Seraphim. Call it what you will I say it is a matter of standing for what you believe. Don't belittle them or anyone else who lets their faith (and not just speaking from a Christian perspective in this regard) guide how they conduct themselves. You both have a set of rules that govern your actions theirs is guided but what seems to be a different one as compared to yours.

I say-- good for them in standing up to aspire to be something more than what is widely accepted as normal.

Beliefs aside, no one can deny that the worlds morals are on a pathetic, downward spiral.

So not only are you two fantastically missing the point, but we've also attached it to moral outrage for the world as a whole that is completely divorced from fact. Wonderful. Here's some perspective. We're not talking about false idols, or something that's going to draw worship from the faith. We're not talking about physical health, emotional health, or spiritual health. We're not talking about something that is going to lead to improper action, even tangentially. We're not talking about something that is going to prevent proper action. We're talking about the PRETENTIONS of such to differentiate oneself from other people. Tribalism at its finest. There is a huge difference between choosing to behave better because it is right and choosing to behave differently because it sets you apart. This is not in the same league as enforcing a no-profanity policy, msuch the less encouraging certain behaviors in forum posts and chat like a no-bullying/insults policy. When you show me something that improves the world by the choice, I'll congratulate. When you laud someone for being nonsenically different for the sake of being different, I'm going to call you on your bull-carp as much as I would a hipster.

Boycotting the changable name based on the metaphorical 'place' on the the recolorable muder simulator exosuit? Then holding the action as superior, and wondering why everyone else isn't on the same boat. Not just 'no', HELL no. Here's your reality check, made out to Seraphim and anyone else who doesn't get it.

Extra check for Jacon: when you're ready to protest the individuals doing wrong instead of lumping the world into one basket when we can verify that the world is more peaceful than ever, people are less likely to abuse substances, the world is becoming more tolerant, and worldwide poverty is going down (Yes, REALLY, verify the sources cited yourself: http://www.cracked.c...-reporting.html), THEN you get to have the talking stick again. Until then, you can keep your slanderous, libelous yap shut.

Oh, you wanted me to say something about the mech? I agree with the OCD people, but may still get it. Looks like an interesting las-boat for random drops.

They self-restrict themselves from playing mechs with paint jobs (or names I'm speculating) that are associated with "bad" things.

While I personally think the paint on this thing is AMAZING, PGI is limiting it's sale-ability to certain sub-sects of people. Which I think is too bad. But, if people are going to split hairs on the (lack of) virtue that certain mechs have in this particular robot-based murder-simulator, then all power to them.

Unfortunately, if you focus on pleasing everyone, you end up pleasing no one.

This is literally and absolutely wrong. Ferro-fibrous has never, in any format of the game increased the maximum armor value of the 'mech. All that Ferro-fibrous armor does is increase the points of armor per ton invested, effectively reducing the weight of the same quantity of armor.

Just in case you don't believe me.

I've got my book out right now.

Battletech 4th ed. Advanced Rules, Vehicle Construction, (page 44).

Determine total amount of armor the vehicle will carry, for each ton of armor the vehicle will have 16 armor points, armor is added in 1/2 ton lots. Total armor can not exceed twice the internal structure.

Internal structure is 1/10th the vehicle's total tonnage, ergo max armor is 1/5th. Ferro gives you more armor points for the same tonnage.

I promised myself that I would never buy a Battlemaster hero.... but the paint job alone and the new quirks may be the undoing of this promise to myself.

Nice hero work PGI!!!!

The Red Corsair Battlemaster, piloted by the Red Corsair pirate (who was working with clan Jade Falcon in a plot to try to disrupt the truce of Tukayyid and not Katrina Steiner, who also went by that codename at one time) is upgraded with clan technology. Since Russ and crew have repeatedly said that there would be no mixed tech, I doubt we will ever see the Red Corsair Battlemaster in MWO.

The quirk makes the mech more consistent to heat generation / dissipation across all the maps.

You could say it makes it worse on cold maps and better on hot maps, I say it makes it more predictable, so you don't worry about having to adjust as much from map to map. It's a laser boat anyway, so having more consistent heat generation across the maps is a perk in that you don't have to adjust as much.

Although, insulated heat sinks are kind of an oxymoron.

Clocking in at 85 tons of hot metal death, the Hellslinger is equipped with dual PPCs, 4 medium lasers and three streak-2 SRMs.

A unique battlemaster chassis manufactured by Hollis Incorporated's flagship production facility on Corey.

Available today for MC.

Wouldn't the Hellslinger "weigh in", not "clock in"? Sorry, my quasi-OCD would not allow that to go unnoticed.

Okay, let me break this down for you in a simple non-confusing, not convoluted way.

Ferro Fibrous is lighter than Standard armor.

All mech come with stock amounts of armor that are less than their max armor capacity.

When switching from STD armor to FF, you are keeping the same WEIGHT, not amount as far as the calculation goes.

So you end up with mounting 15 tons of FF armor, instead of 15 tons of STD armor when you upgrade. However, 15 tons of FF armor gives you more points. WITHOUT EXCEEDING THE MAX AMOUNT OF ARMOR.

FF will NEVER increase the max amount of armor to put on a mech, it doesn't increase the armor capacity. It just lets you put more for the same weight, while costing 14 slots.

The Red Corsair BLR is unrelated to Katrina(she used a similar title, but she didn't pilot . Not to mention that it was constructed around 3055~ish. So 6 years away from now (3049)).

So no, the Red Corsair couldn't be introduced.
