Exactly. I thought it was a pretty cool concept myself. Hope you enjoy. : )

Considering the oddity the MM seems to favor the opposite map for your Mech loadout i wouldn;t be surprised if the Hellslinger ends landing more in HPG (worse heat dissipation than other mechs there) and rarely in Terra Therma (better heat dissipation than other mechs)

Still the concept seems rather cool specially if that Heralds a future of new and specific quirks to further distinguish one mech and variant from another.

I don't mind it to be honest. I already have the Phoenix Variant BLR, so I'll probably pass on this one, and it would have been nice if it did something the standard BLR's don't do so well, like a Ballistic High mount on one shoulder or something.
But it does have a very nice paint job.

Seeing as how they are doing Phoenix Heros now, I think a Locust with JJs and ECM is in order .... go on, it'd be worth it for the irony of the P2W QQ!

We have a spider hero, Anansi. Check your skill tree. t hasn't been entered into the game yet.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...b#i=203&l=stock

EDIT:We are also getting 1 or 2 new IS mechs very soon. People are speculating either the Mauler, or the Vindicator are going to make their debut.

Yeah, I've heard the speculation on the new IS mechs I'm just anxious for their release. Especially if it's the Mauler.

The Anansi though is news to me and I can't wait to see it in game now. Looks like it could be pretty interesting.

Well, they could have replaced the should Energy Slots with Dakka.... uh... Machine Gun.... mounts.... what do you mean people would abuse it and run quad UAC5s..... no-one would do that, they're for Machine Guns. It'd be like swapping the 4 Medium Lasers for Quad PPCs..... wait, they do that too?

The only IS mech left that would remotely be interesting to have a hero mech is the Shadowhawk and that's contingent of it having good hardpoints

I don't see the point with Hellslinger.
We already have energy based Battlemaster configs.
50% less heating... I don't think it deserves my bucks.
Painting..... it seems like an anime to me. A 85 tons deadly war machine should always be grey/green/black, imo.

Still waiting for really NEW mechs.

I've got my book out right now.

Battletech 4th ed. Advanced Rules, Vehicle Construction, (page 44).

Determine total amount of armor the vehicle will carry, for each ton of armor the vehicle will have 16 armor points, armor is added in 1/2 ton lots. Total armor can not exceed twice the internal structure.

Internal structure is 1/10th the vehicle's total tonnage, ergo max armor is 1/5th. Ferro gives you more armor points for the same tonnage.

Great. Show me how to make a vehicle in MWO and turn it into a 'mech and you might have a point here. Unless you're trying to prove me wrong by providing an example that lies outside of the argued area (effects of ferro-fibrous armor mounting on a battlemech), in which case you're basically saying you should be ignored. Since my post you quoted specifically says " on a 'mech"

I like the paint job. Not really fussed about the mech, but I rarely play assaults so i dont think my opinion really counts.

YET ANOTHER ASSAULT MECH?
Don't we have enough heavy and assault spam by now?

I would have liked if they had taken the hero BM, and turned it into a more generalized work horse, Ac20, ppc, 2 med lasers, 2 x streak 2, lrm10. something set up with ballistic, energy and missiles would have been much more appealing to me.

Doesn't matter, its not a particularly good assault mech.

And it wouldn't matter if they introduced 20 new medium and light mechs, you'd still see more assaults because of how the game is currently (mostly due to lack of proper rewards for non-damage related actions, maybe even partly due to the existing game modes and maps that favor combat over objectives).

Actually the rules are the same for mechs and vehicles.

Ferro gives you more armor for the same tonnage. HOWEVER! the max amount of armor a vehicle carries cannot be changed.

Okay, let me break this down for you in a simple non-confusing, not convoluted way.

Ferro Fibrous is lighter than Standard armor.

All mech come with stock amounts of armor that are less than their max armor capacity.

When switching from STD armor to FF, you are keeping the same WEIGHT, not amount as far as the calculation goes.

So you end up with mounting 15 tons of FF armor, instead of 15 tons of STD armor when you upgrade. However, 15 tons of FF armor gives you more points. WITHOUT EXCEEDING THE MAX AMOUNT OF ARMOR.

FF will NEVER increase the max amount of armor to put on a mech, it doesn't increase the armor capacity. It just lets you put more for the same weight, while costing 14 slots.

First a set with default colors and only PPCs in the arms (to show the nice camo) and then another set with black/black/beige with 2LP, 4ML, 2SRM6 loadout.
Enjoy!

I don't own any Shadowhawks, but a Griffin Hero with ballistics would be nice.

Yep.

Right Shift+F11 disables HUD on a mech, and after that, taking screenshots is easy.

Have you seen Lordred's Perfect Screenshot thread? It's amazing.

The Vehicle Construction rules are for ALL vehicle types, like the intro says...

"The following system makes it possible for players to design their own unique Battlemech, Aerospace Fighter, or armored vehicle using any legal combination of speed, armor, weapons and equipment they desire..."

This is followed in the book by a bunch of tables and blank datasheets.

ETA:
Now I'll concede that the rule is ambiguous, the bonus is never explicitly stated. But if armor is allocated as a percentage of tonnage (just as structure is) then yes, Ferro should boost your max armor by virtue of giving more points for the same maximum weight.

At least that is how my particular BT/MW RPG group always played it. Otherwise, what reason would you have to take it over Endo, it was (depending on the faction and mech) more expensive, for less weight benefit.

Remember that:

1- FF is applied in half armor lots

2- Max armor value is calculated based on how much armor is possible to fit on the mech/vehicle. FF will give you more armor than Standard, but it still won't go above the cap for that mech's tonnage. For example 100 ton mechs all have the cap of 618 armor points (using MW:O values).

As for taking it over endo, that's because of repair costs. FF is costly to install, but takes less time to install, while endo costs less (not sure about that tbh), but takes longer to install. That is all before repairs are factored in.

Repairing a ton of FF armor, is cheaper than repairing a single busted Endo-Steel gyro. If you lose a section of your make, let's say a Side Torso, that will cost a fortune to repair if it's Endo internal and STD armor, than STD internal and FF armor.

Also, tech availability should be considered. It's always easier to get FF than Endo-Steel (most orbital structures used for manufacturing Endo tend to get nuked/destroyed whenever a war pops up.

The Red Corsair BLR is unrelated to Katrina(she used a similar title, but she didn't pilot . Not to mention that it was constructed around 3055~ish. So 6 years away from now (3049)).

So no, the Red Corsair couldn't be introduced.

I understand the TImeline is off and also that there would be no mixed tech, I just thought it might be cool.
