With the latest patch I noticed that there are now red "webs" on the front torsos on all my Spider mechs (I do like the proper weapons showing however). Is there anyway to get rid of that red colour since it detracts from my selected camo patterns?

Just noticed this too after "checking out" the new weapon appearances. It looks cool for me, but I have all black paint. I can imagine that on some schemes it doesn't look so cool. I had to check to see that I didn't have some weird tertiary color on my mech.

If I were to hazard a guess, it's probably a "sprucing up" of the default camo (it's a little drab) as part of the dynamic hitboxes.

There's a greater reason for it though...

Spidermech, Spidermech. Does whatever a Spidermech does...... (sing this in Homer Simpson's voice). Enjoy!

From the Sarna.net wiki
"The unique armor alignment on the front of the Spider is what gave the 'Mech it's name. This spiderweb pattern is further emphasized by a bright red fiberglass sealant in the seams between armor plates."

Sounds like it looks more like Spiderman. This is a good thing right?

Yeah, they should have just made it appear on the "default" pattern only.
My new paint job would have painted over their "red fiberglass sealant".
The vagabond camo pattern that I paid real money for now looks like garbage.

Like many nice details in this game, it's not really visible unless you're standing still directly in front of someone. And Spider pilots tend not to do that.

It looks really ugly on the pubbie green trial mech.

Then again, everything looks ugly in pubbie green.

EDIT: Yeah, this change is dumb. There's no reason that you wouldn't be able to paint over the lines. Bad idea.
