I know nothing about Battletech, but after surfing for quite a while, and trying to find something that I could really be excited about if added in future... I found this:

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Thunder_Hawk

100 ton

Moves at a fair speed for its weight

But...

"Armament
I am baffled that this thing exists. What happened to it that it was not present in neither MechCOmmander, or Mechwarrior 3? Or at least discussed somewhere...

Assuming we are in 3050 (or something like that), and this mech is available since 2771 ( not like I am saying every mech prior to 3050 has to be available right away)...

Would you accept its canonical existence and deal with the kind of loadout this mech has in MWO? Or there going to be bazillion threads about nerfing it?

This is not some 150 ton Omega mech that I feel like no one even expects in this game. This mech though... It is ancient, but uses all weapons that were since beta and does not exceed current top of 100 tons.

This mech is out of production until the mid 3050s.

And since its an SLDF mech the only ones would likely have them are Comstar and Wolfs Dragoons

Plus PGI does not have to release it, ever. We had all the MW series without it, JUST FINE.

So how did it work Lore-wise? They were building this super beast, then just stopped, no one gave a crap about its design, and then they just suddenly resumed it in mid 3050s without any change?

Nah, I will rather pick the progressive side, poop over your conservative, and say it deserves to appear.

Plus so much whining about how unfair IS vs Clans fights are... :( :D

Succession Wars happened and the factory that made the mech was likely destroyed making it lostech.

So are the Star-something-something guys, were actually extremely high tech? I found a few other mechs that are seemingly almost as powerful as Direwolf, but they exist in like 2500s

There are literally hundreds of mechs, each with multiple variants. We will likely never see them all in a PC game, let alone MWO, it's just not practical. What we will see are the more popular ones, and MWO hasn't even covered all those yet. This is a pretty obscure mech so it's not really surprising it has been overlooked.

What are you talking about its super slow? DW speeds at that, it is a cool mech though.

The star league was humanity at its finest. After a huge civil war, the grand general of their armies took most of the surviving troops, mechs, and spaceships far, far away from the inner sphere. They became the clans, and return to claim the sphere in 3050.

O_O

So what happens now? You can only simultaneously charge 2 GRs?

Yes, and triple rifle wasn't even good to begin with, so nothing of value was lost.

Yea, it's too slow and fragile to be fun. I didn't promise fun, only possibilities :(

Are you implying that it existed in canon so it should exist in MWO? You could say that about a lot of mechs, and vehicles, infantry, etc.

If you are concerned about the weapons there is no reason to be. In TT those Gauss would hit different parts of the target mech. In MWO PGI decided to come up with their own way to try to mimic this (for some reason) so it would not be OP in this game either, especially at that speed :(

Wait until you see the Devastator. And that one is in production now. However, it lacks variants.

Awesome. I want one. And make it possible to charge more than two gauss at a time again. Because gauss is boss.

Not to worry, it will be out in the either the Comstar pack, or the Star League DF pack.

This is the kind of mech well never see in this game, either because the build is either too strong or simply ridiculous, few good ones would be these:

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Malice
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Atlas_III
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Devastator ( check out the DVS-X10 MUSE EARTH)
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Fafnir

The list could go on and on but yo get the idea, however looking at how strong the Dire Whale can be i think we will see other power houses assault mechs. I m worried about the IS tho since now they have trouble keeping up with clans, the mechs above are all IS ( Malice i need confirmation) and would help to tip the balance.
