Four volleys to destroy the center of the Awesome when I shoot from the front.

http://youtu.be/feM6qBs8-cI

But when I destroy the side torso first and then try to destroy the center from the side it takes nine volleys...what is wrong here?

The same happens when I shoot at the CTF-3D.

The center torso takes 50% of damage directed at a destroyed side torso

Performing as designed.

Damage inflicted to destroyed sections transfers 50% inwards, not 100%

So, if it takes 5 shots to CT core someone, firing at a destroyed Side Torso will take 10 shots. Firing at a destroyed arm stub will take 20 shots (transfering 50% of the damage to the side torso and thus only 25% to the center torso.

This, incidentally, is why torso twisting is very important, and while mechs like the Centurion can be so sturdy: It has huge arm stubs when the arms are destroyed, and hits against those do very little damage to the CT.

Nah, it makes no sense. Especially with all the weird weapon nerfs when all they really ever needed to do was make the Mechs a little tougher. I mean this is almost an exploit, but oh no, we can't make the mechs little tougher than the armor values.

Actually it is quite nice, it further promotes torso twisting, which is a good skill to learn. Mechs can whether a surprising amount of damage when you torso twist well.

Not to mention, destroying something doesn't mean it's magically gone...it could just be rendered inoperative. At which point, you still have to contend with it being in the way as you try to damage stuff behind it.

Granted, I admit it's not a perfect system, but I get it...and prefer it to magically discarded limbs like some kind of lizard.

I honestly, I can get some one arguing that if 50% of damage passes through destroyed limbs to the torso, then maybe 50% of the damage to the limb should also pass through to the torso for an undestroyed limb with its armor stripped. So un-armored limbs take 100% damage as usual, but also pass 50% of that damage through to the torso as additional damage.

My point is, why make the mechs unrealistically strong when sections are destroyed, but never actually make them tougher in a non-exploit way. Look at all the weird nerfs the game has. Gauss De-sync, ghost heat, etc. with more on the way, when all that was ever needed was to make the mechs a little tougher. Mind boggling.

See, that's where TT knowledge has led me astray; I never knew that I could keep presenting my shattered LT to an enemy and reduce CT damage as a result, because it simply doesn't work on TT. Something new learned! ;)
