To add more grey hair to the poll - 24 years of BTech goodness

Boardgame mainly - bits of PC MW1, MW2 Mercs, MW3 here and there - Loved Mechcommander 1 - great interface, intro movie.

Still Classic BTech boardgame now once a week (at 38 years of age) with a solid bunch of guys - we all signed up here in juicy anticipation.

I remember when everything came in one black and white box with red letters. And that was all that was available. I was tickled when they came out with minis and mapsheets so we didnt have to use the little fol- in-half cardboard dealies anymore and pretend they were something else. Sheesh I'm old.

I was introduced to BT when my dad brought home a CD-ROM drive upgrade for our computer that included a copy of MW2, but the ancient POS had problems loading past the first campaign level. After that MC came out and that was the beginning of an addiction that has lasted the past decade plus.

I discovered Battletech when I came across the novel `Decision at THunder Rift' at age 11 at a library. That was back in ancient 1988... I'm 34 now, so it has been 23 years since I cought that fever.

I was first brought into BattleTech in late '84 when it was called Battledroids. That makes it just about 27 years.

Started off in 1995 with MechWarrior 2 (actually played Earthsiege 2 first, then discovered MechWarrior shortly after). Saw the cartoon as well and was permanently hooked. Got into the actual TT about 5-6 years later as well as any novels I could get my hands on, and of course every MechWarrior based video that has come out since.

Ive always been a fan of the BT universe since the 80s but I wasnt into miniatures or board games since I was already into pencil and paper D&D with my buds. That took all my time in those days so didnt actually get into it until after I spent some time in the Navy working on aircraft on a carrier. I think the closest any of us could get to working on a BT dropship would be life on a carrier. I had a new appreciation for not only the mechs but for the ships, the fleets, and vast distances, the politics and intrigue, and the sense of honor and duty. Later, in 1997, I picked up MW2 and found a bunch of guys in the Ghost Legion (lead by Gunslinger) who spoke my lingo and understood me. I played Heavy Gear later because MW3 didnt appeal to me. Then MW4. Read a few of the novels but since Im profoundly ADD, I saw something shiny and forgot to read more. These days I divide my game time between SL and MW4 but the glory days of MW4 are looong over imo. Back when there were clan wars, duels and people took honor seriously (or at least reputation and good name). I cant tell you how pumped I am about MWO.

I think around 1990, when I was introduced to it by a friend. I played MW2, MW4, MW4:Mercs and MechCommander 2, as well as the Dark Age minis game (Dragon's Fury, Steel Wolves, Liao and Stormhammers, mainly).

Now I've finally gone full circle to the regular Battletech boardgame.

started when i rented the sega version of battletech back in 94 i think, then bought "Decision at thunder rift" a lil while later at a used book store, after that...50 some odd books and many games later, i still need more lol

I've been with it about 15-16 years. Started with Mechwarrior 2 then got hooked on the CCG. Man I miss those cards, I think I still got them kickin' around here.

Started with MW3, technically, but it was an old copy of my friend's. I also remember that I found a brand-new MW4 around the time, so it bust have been around 2000. Wow, a decade of my life with this. My only regret is that I didn't find it sooner.

Started my BT addiction back in '87 with the boxed set... then bought CityTech... and AeroTech. Still have all 3 sitting in a place of honor on my gaming bookshelf... yeah, I have an entire 8-foot bookshelf devoted to my RPG fix... what?

Never got into the video games much... played a couple of LAN party-type shootfests with MW2 (I think).
