MechWarrior community. If you continue to voice your dissatisfaction with the up-coming changes PGI might not go through with the patch. I say this because we (the community) have supported this game/PGI since the beginning (i.e. Phoenix package, Clan package, etc.), so we are asking PGI to support us. "At this time please do not go through with this patch - post your concerns to the community and allow us to give feedback/suggestions"

SO? That feedback was in relation to the gauss/ppc combination. Which was the objective purpose of the study.

Can't help it if the devs who understand the game then realised the potential effects of the change with the potential introduction of leaving other dominant meta in the game as a result. It is anticipating and testing the knock on effects of that study.

I also find it quite funny that people are making their conclusions without any personl testing being done by themselves that the devs have had access to. It is a contradiction almost.

The "personal testing" of devs?? Are you kidding?? Have you seen a single dev play this game competently? You don't ask terrible players what needs to be balanced because they have no idea.

so i just finished a round with a dual PPC kintaro..

i had slowish mechs backing away from my PPC shots at 700m like they were nothing...pretty sad.

and they really need to put the ERLL back to 1.5...

Maybe the entire point of the ERLL change was to make the PPC change seem reasonable...... :)

Both changes look quite right.
The AC10 speed of PPCs is enough to use it well. Wouldve been harder with ac20 speed.

The ERLL 2sec beam sounds more than it actually is and gives time to shoot back.
Even if your target is at 1000m sitting at a hill and shooting you with ERLL, you might have a chance to snipe with a Gauss and hit him before he ducks back or the beam is over.
Just barely.

The heat increase to 9 heat sounds not much, fair enough.

The Ghost heat at >1 sounds high but thats not much either.
Where you got nearly 5 extra heat on the 3rd laser before, you will now get around 2 extra heat at the second and then around 7 on the 3rd. (exact numbers later).
The modifier will push the heat the highest.

EDIT: Numbers
the change from 8.5 heat to 9.0 heat increases the GH of the 3rd laser from 4.59 to 4.86. thats nothing!
Add the change from >2 to >1 for GH changes:
2nd laser +2.16 heat for a total extra on 3rd laser 7.02 heat. Thats average.

Now to change the mod from 3 to 12
First with 9 heat and limit of >2 it would do 19.44 extra heat on the 3rd laser.
Now with the change to >1 the second laser will do additional 8.64 heat which pushes the 3rd up to additional 28.08 heat.
Nobody will use 3 cERLL together anymore, but 2 will be quite hot also.

1cERLL = 9 heat, 1cERPPC = 15 heat
2cERLL = 26.64 heat, 2cERPPC = 30 heat
3cERLL = 55.09 heat, 3cERPPC = 57.15 heat

Both weapons are very close together with 2 or 3 while one cERLL is nearly half the heat of one cERPPC.
Operation successfull.
Overall the Laser will be higher heat efficient with 1, and slightly less dmg/heat with 2 compared to cERPPC, but still a lot higher dmg/heat than a pair of IS ERPPCs.

I don't think that's overnerfed.
Adapt and overcome, or change your builds around to support two strong energy weapons fired together.

I guess this will give builds with ERML and ERLL a slightly different gameplay with higher heat, but especially the brawling efficiency of ERLL will be lower, as you will probably lose some of the beam time.

Put one ERLL and 6 ERML on a Stormcrow instead of 2ERLL and 5ERML.
Use more other weapons instead of boating 2-4 ERLL on heavy/assault mechs maybe?

Lets see how it play out before we make our final judgement.

So, now I just did some before & after heat tests.
This does not look like overnerfed.
You can cool down by using chainfire, similar to PPCs, or AC20s.

See for yourself

First: Clan ERLL before:

Second: Clan ERLL after:

Third: Clan ERPPC to compare the heat:

Notice how you could only shoot like 3x with 2 ERPPCs, but a lot more often with the lasers and how fast heat drops if you switch to single fire for a few shots.
Edit: fixed order of videos

past history says "we are on an island"

Will not matter. Changes are here to stay.

Looks like I will now have to make drastic changes to Adder/Summoner/Kitfox/Warhawk/Timberwolf Builds that i'm currently using.

At least now I can fire 1 CERLL and ERPPC at the same time. Once the laser cycle finishes, my ERPPC might hit the target! (highly unlikely however)

You realize that the damage was not changed, right?

Or are you saying they were dodging the shots?

PGI only understands money. Show your dissatisfaction with the direction of development by not purchasing shiny new mechs. It is pretty clear that they don't read these forums at all.

Yea. Last weapon, at the very least viable against lights, were nerfed to the ground. Now lights are totally invulnerable. That's how you've spent money, I paid you for 2 clan mechs, instead of fixing stupid matchmaker and weapon groups bug... I guess, it was last straw. No. Don't hope, I will quit this game. No. Quitting - is punishment only for P2P games. The best punishment for F2P games - is to play, but not pay for them. Yeah.

Sounds about right. Looking forward to the CERLL nerf. I'm one of the few who think the Clans SHOULD be overpowered, but the CERLL was a thing of pure ridiculousness.

A few friends and I dropped on Crimson Straits, came over the cleavage, and were melted in about three seconds by a group of Warhawks and Direwhales out on the island. Never had a chance - there was no cover to reach them and the damage they could pour out at that range, beyond the reach of even ERPPCs...the fight was over before it started.

Congrats PGI. After being a cash cow (close to 3k worth) and devoted player in this game for over 2 years I just uninstalled it. Take my 45 days of clan pack premium time, and my beloved Warhawk and stuff it. Post patch slowmo ppcs are a joke. combine that with with net code and borked hit reg, my patience is gone.

I tried PGI, I really tried to believe in you. Sadly years from now Mechwarrior and Battletech will not be known for lore or TT, but for how bad you dropped the ball and the taint you have given this game.

It's not about heat, CERLL is useless now because of 2 sec beam duration.

Dawnstealer - sounds like you should have scouted first before going over the cleavage. The point is PGI should not make changes without getting feedback/suggestion from the community; the community that has supported this game/PGI

Ngamok, and this are the type of people posting on the feedback thread (who don't know wtf they are talking about)...

I understand people are passionate about their play style and favorite weapons and such. And I know there are certain posts through 45 pages that are really 100% wrong brought on by emotion. I just wish those people just sat and thought about it more rationally instead of just posting what they did.

That's what they are paying lip service to here, but I sincerely doubt they will listen.

They will. Eventually 3PV got changed for 12s and such after what was it, 300 pages?

nah
it is to take some of the heat off of that nerf. Then Paul's going to say "We listened to your feedback. We're going to adjust the CERLL now" then everybody forgets about the horrible PPC nerf. That's exactly what's going to happen
