Did you? And I dont talk to whiteknights.
In battletech hitting anything that moves at range is hard, especially while moving. In MWO it isnt.
Sniping isnt battletech. Sniping isnt mech combat.
'Those brawlers', perhaps, yes. They were easier to hit. But anything else?
I'm talking about MWO here, where you can hit a mech travelling at 150kph whereever you want.
Battletech hit rolls... you couldnt just shoot someone in the CT if you wanted...
Wait, I'm a white knight now?
Ok. Does that make my point, and assessment (both accurate btw), wrong? Nope, it doesn't.
Unless your pilot literally had no skill, and was aiming at a Locust that just MASC'd, you had a pretty decent shot of hitting your opponent.
I'm also going to guess you never played in tournaments, or at least your FLGS (Friendly Local Gaming Store). If you did, you'd recognize that most long range mechs were there to shoot things AT LONG RANGE.
Another guess I'm making here. You never used called shots, did you?
Are you familiar with mech construction rules? Have you used advanced rules in a TT game before?
Have you at any point in time used a Mauler? Despite the AC2s being awful, they are still a sniping weapon. Designed specifically for the sole purpose of pounding people at extreme ranges. Along with the Gauss, and the ERPPC.
What did you think the Devastator was? Paperweight?
