@OP.

Because sniping isn't battletech. It isnt mech combat, but then again... mwo isnt mech combat.

I love the current patch change to the ppc and the ppc is my favourite weapon. The CERLL I dont know about, I dont own any, but it DID need a change.

I'm sorry, but sniping is a big part of BT. There are many mechs built solely around killing things at extreme ranges.

Hollander anyone?

I did and I think you're wrong. Btech was all about knowing how to use those long range weapons to pound and soften up those brawlers before they closed. That's exactly what they were for.

Did you? And I dont talk to whiteknights.

In battletech hitting anything that moves at range is hard, especially while moving. In MWO it isnt.
Sniping isnt battletech. Sniping isnt mech combat.

'Those brawlers', perhaps, yes. They were easier to hit. But anything else?
I'm talking about MWO here, where you can hit a mech travelling at 150kph whereever you want.
Battletech hit rolls... you couldnt just shoot someone in the CT if you wanted...

And why the hell isn't it Battletech to hit things within the range of the weapon?

Purposely ignoring certain members of a Forum isn't good for discussions either.

Another thing...if Sniping isn't part of battleTech, why does the Gauss and ERPPC exist? Those are long range weapons with a Malus at short range.

Ignoring facts and throwing up bullshit ad hominems sure does help you here.

What, did you think the Panther or the Pack Hunter or the Hollander carried around a single large weapon so that they could close to midrange and die in a ball of fire?

The Jagermech's in-universe fluff calls it a long-range direct fire support mech. What, exactly, do you think a marksman or a sniper does? The Panther and Hollander fluff even specifically call them snipers.

Sure is a lot of sniping in a game that doesn't have sniping.

I guess the Thunder Hawk carries around three gauss rifles at a whopping 54kph for funsies.

Wait, I'm a white knight now?

Ok. Does that make my point, and assessment (both accurate btw), wrong? Nope, it doesn't.

Unless your pilot literally had no skill, and was aiming at a Locust that just MASC'd, you had a pretty decent shot of hitting your opponent.

I'm also going to guess you never played in tournaments, or at least your FLGS (Friendly Local Gaming Store). If you did, you'd recognize that most long range mechs were there to shoot things AT LONG RANGE.

Another guess I'm making here. You never used called shots, did you?

Are you familiar with mech construction rules? Have you used advanced rules in a TT game before?

Have you at any point in time used a Mauler? Despite the AC2s being awful, they are still a sniping weapon. Designed specifically for the sole purpose of pounding people at extreme ranges. Along with the Gauss, and the ERPPC.

What did you think the Devastator was? Paperweight?

EDIT: Grammar
