Hello all! I have just purchased the new Battletech box set,and I'm a new player.
I have played with the standard rules that come with it, but find them to be too complicated.
And I have decided to make my own rules while staying true to the original feel of the game, and I was wondering if you have any suggestions, anything changed, to make the game simpler to play.
After creating these new rules O will post them in a few weeks for any ideas or edits.

Basically to cut a long story short, I'm attempting to make the game simpler and looking for your suggestions.

Thanks for your time,
Ace

Have you considered the Alpha Strike ruleset? It's set up to quickly play larger battles, but it's simpler than regular BT.

Also, try easing yourself into the regular rules by using the Quick Strike (beginner) rules - then slowly add "standard rules" complications when you're ready.

Like Sandslice said, the game should come with a beginner ruleset that is very simple and great for quick "lunch break" style games. You also might try playing some MegaMek (it's a flash game). The UI is pretty decent and it gives you a good feel for how Battletech works.

Megamek is java, actually. But yeah, it's a nifty simulator.

Ace, if you go into my pinned lore thread in this section you'll find links for alpha strike AND battleforce; both of which are used to speed up play, along with megamek, which is, as has already been said, a fun simulator and it moves pretty quickly.

You might also consider figuring out ways to make the introductory ruleset to move faster ... things like adding movement dice and other stuff: https://www.mwtactic...age-2#entry4744
