Owned 'Mechs: JR7-D, GRF-1N, AWS-8Q. (Also TDR-9S bought during challenge, but that didn't work so well.)

Trial 'Mechs; BJ-1, SHD-2H, CTF-3D. The 'Phract, especially, had some interesting matches (including winning a duel with a Jager-40.)

I used my Banshee 44 SHS laser boat most of the time. 2-4 kills per match.

Also tried a 3 PPC Awesome, but I could not get any good matches and switched back to the Banshee.

CN9-A, 3xSRM6A, 2xMLas, AC-2.

Playing as support or fast striker as needed, means sometimes I can get over 700 damage with no kills or bag 5 with less than 300 damage.

I ran my Awesome 9M for a bunch of games, then switched to my Trebuchet 7M. Both were skirmishers with SRMs, but the Trebuchet seems to have a horseshoe up it's tailpipe lately. Averaging over 2 kills per match and 500 damage.

On a baby account, I tried the Victor and Shadowhawk Champs to minor success, but then started massacring with the Kintaro Troll (er Champion). That thing is just silly.

My Phoenix Shadow Hawk with 2 AC/5s and a PPC...and I felt dirty when I first started using it. Regardless of the fact that I pulled in 2-4 kills a match and 450+ damage, I still felt like I was exploiting the system to do it. I slowly got used to it, but I had to take a shower afterward to feel better.

Thunderbolt 5SS with 4 large pulse lasers, no one ever expects the wub wub.

I purchased the 5SS this past weekend while it was on sale. I ran it a little Sunday evening after I secured my mech bay. I did a similar loadout as yours, but with more MPL. I dubbed it the "ThunderWub".

Tried my Battlemasters for a bit, but I suck at Assaults. Plus, they don't even have their Basics done, so... yeah.

Ended up using a Hunchback 4SP with 2xASRM6 and 4 ML. That one worked a lot better. SRMs and fast mechs go together like... like... <insert 2 things that go together well here>!

I used several. The bulk of the work was done with my Awesome-9M, Firestarter-H, and Wolverine-6R.

(builds are only approximations from memory, but the weapons and engines are correct.)

Why would you feel bad for using this build.

With PPC and JJ changes it takes some skill to play it. Might not be a damage monster but with some targeting data it can kill well.

Awesome 8V and 9M, Banshee 3S and 3E.
All of them bought on discount for the challenge.
Also bought but not used, two Victors, a Battlemaster, a Stalker, a Thunderbolt, two Quickdraws and a Kintaro.

My nearly-stock T-bolt 9S was the primary: I got about 6-7 of the kills with it. Brutal tank-mech:

Because, for the last 7-8 months, I've done my best to avoid the PPC/AC Meta. Now that PGI is starting to bring the OP weapons in line, I'll probably start using it more. It's not a bad build, I just didn't like the idea that I was going along with the people exploiting an OP weapon combo.

Did the entire challenge in a Thunderbolt 9S on Friday night. It didn't take long given I got 7 kills in one match. I got 4 kills, 1 kill, 3 kills, 2 kills, 7 kills, 2 kills , 4kills, and a couple no kill games thrown in and I was done. I enjoyed the event.

Well I won't sidetrack this thread and I respect your opinion but I will say I disagree with that being an OP combination anymore. It takes some added skill to play that combination now and it cannot be effective at the range limit like before.
